If you are a beginning teacher in California, there are many job resources for teachers that will help you through your first days and first year of school. One of these programs is the California Learning to Teach system. In this system those wishing to become teachers train as paraprofessionals, such as teacher aides in the school system. The paraprofessional Teacher Training Program is funded by the state and helps those interested to eventually become certified teachers. They are probably graduates with an undergraduate degree, but do not have any teacher training. The participants may decide after working in the school system that they want to become teachers and have the option of enrolling in a teacher training program or an internship program. The Intern program allows participants to work in the classroom under the guidance and mentoring of a certified teacher. In order to qualify for this program, you do need to take and pass the CBEST- California Basic Educational Skills Test.

Another of the job resources for teachers who have passed the appropriate teacher certification exam for the grade level or content area and a re new to teaching, the state or the school district is the BTSA. This acronym refers to the Beginning Teacher Support and Assessment program to help teachers over the hurdles they encounter during their first year of teaching. The programs are all designed locally and there are chapters in different regions of the state.

CFASST is a job resource for teachers that will assist them with professional development. With both structured and flexible features, this program is designed to help teachers with any problems they encounter that could mean they get a poor evaluation at the end of the year. Since new teachers are evaluated by the administration of the school and this evaluation determines whether or not they are rehired, it is important for them to do well in their first year. The programs included professional development that helps new teacher plan and develop lessons that will help them deliver the curriculum effectively and minimize problems in the classroom at the same time.

The CSTP is the setoff six standards intended to guide California teachers in defining and developing their teaching practice. This is one of the job resources for teachers from which all teachers, both new and veteran, can benefit from. The standards are divided into categories such as teaching practice, establishing effective learning environments for students, planning instruction on short term and long term bases and understanding the important facets of the curriculum that meet the state mandated outcomes. It enables all teachers to grow and develop in the teaching profession. It is also an avenue through which all educators can pilot new types of assessments and get teachers involved in Action Research projects in their own schools.

For new teachers in California, the California New Teacher Project is an effective job resource for teachers providing additional training for first and second year teachers in the state. Experienced educators help with this training and open up many different types of professional development for the teachers.
