The Transformation of Nonprofit in Healthcare Organizations

Non-profit is changing, no one can deny that. An industry that was once an uncomplicated group of teacher jobs, education jobs, counselor jobs, healthcare jobs, and a host of other types of jobs has grown into an industry incredibly complicated, including nonprofit. It has grown complicated to a point where you need a little more than a high school diploma to take part in it.

How complicated can it be? One word: variables. So many different things can happen that it's nearly impossible to detect all the possible outcomes without holding an MBA. Now you're probably wondering why an MBA is important in a nonprofit organization.

In a frighteningly increasing number, those with education jobs have stated that more and more people are earning their MBA's for unusual reasons, or even doctors holding PhD's and MD's obtaining an MBA. It's clear that things have changed in the nonprofit world, but to what extent? How much could it have changed that they are not hiring MBA's to do their work?

One CEO stated that you need the MBA these days just to make heads or tails of the things that happen on a daily basis. One thing that has changed in healthcare is the amount of time that a patient actually spends in an emergency room. If you take a look in the past you'll see that in the old days the longer a patient stayed hospitalized the more money the hospital would receive. Thanks to the way insurance companies work now, a hospital will now receive more money for pushing a patient out the door as fast as they possibly can and only giving them the minimal treatment. Does this affect educational requirements? It absolutely does.

Someone needs to manage the patient's healthcare and sometimes it can get more than a little confusing. Here you can see the need for an MBA, and it is a dire one. Those who are in these fields are rushing out to earn their MBA, and those who wish to be in the field are now forced to earn one before they even step foot in the building.

These days there is not much difference between your run of the mill for profit and nonprofit organizations. The only difference is that they aren't in business for monetary gain. In career counselor jobs it is common for a counselor to advise anyone who is seeking any high up position in a company to attain an MBA or cease their job search. It really is that simple. Even in teacher jobs these needs exist, specifically in schools where programs must be laid out and employees given directives on what to do on a daily basis.

The world has changed. It has become a complicated monster and no one can deny that. It's going to take a lot of work to get used to it, and it's true that many people will fall by the wayside. What is important is that YOU do not fall behind, and that YOU find a way to make your dreams a reality. No one ever said it was going to be easy; and that phrase is more true now, then it ever has been, but you have to push forward and make it happen.
