Job Description:
Basic Functions and Responsibilities:
The Adult Education Transitions Coordinator is dedicated to guiding Adult Education students in successfully accessing, navigating, and transitioning into credit educational and careers pathways through professional guidance, program coordination, and process development.The position works closely with the Dean of Adult and Continuing Education and program managers in the development and implementation of transitions strategies for the department.
Characteristics Duties and Responsibilities:
Recruits Adult Education students from upper levels of ESL, GED, and Adult Basic Education for participation in transition and bridge programs.
Works with students in transition/bridge programs to ensure that they understand and can successfully navigate the process of moving from Adult Education to credit or vocational programs.
Conducts follow-up with students in bridge and transition programs to ensure that they can locate and access any necessary services, such as tutoring, advisement, financial aid, etc.
Organizes meetings and prepares written information for Adult Education instructors so they can be informed about transition initiatives and can in-turn inform students.
Assists students to identify perceived barriers to success in order to determine appropriate support services.
Coordinates the development of student resources which support all aspects of student success. Serves as a liaison between the Adult Education program and college credit and career programs, as well as student services offices such as Admissions and Advising, Student Success and Leadership Institute, Tutoring, Financial Aid, as they relate to the transition of Adult Education students.
Facilitates students' goal setting process. Assists students in the development of Individual Education and Career Plans compatible with their interests, needs, and skills.
Assists with the coordination, development, and implementation of appropriate student success strategies.
Provides intervention strategies at critical points of the students' educational path
Develops and oversee mechanisms to track student participation and performance in transition and bridge programs in order to evaluate efforts and improve effectiveness.
Serves as a liaison with community organizations participating in bridge partnerships with the College such as WIOA.
Works with administrators, staff, and faculty to identify, develop and implement new ICAPS, Bridge, and other programs targeting the transitioning of Adult Education students.
Performs other job related duties as assigned.
Requirements:
Hiring Qualifications and Working Conditions
Bachelor's degree required in Education, Counseling, Advising, Student Life or related field; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience is required. Master's degree preferred.
Three years related work experience.
Excellent interpersonal, verbal, writing, and communication skills.
Ability to interact and work collaboratively with colleagues, students and the public is required.
Ability to effectively use a computer and Microsoft Office programs Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
General office working conditions. Little or no exposure to adverse working conditions.

Administrative supervision is received from the Dean of Adult and Continuing Education / Dean of Skokie.

Hours:
Monday - Friday 8:15 am - 5:00 pm
SALARY:
$51,338 - Salary is non - negotiable
This is a temporary grant position and continued employment, is based on the successful renewal of the grant.
Based on the needs of the college and with Administrator approval, some positions at the college may have remote or hybrid schedule options available. Please note, that during the 65 working day probationary period, employees are required to report to campus.
