This position is responsible for overseeing the external operations for the School of Diplomacy and International Relations. The incumbent’s main responsibilities/functions fall into the following areas: high-profile event management; internal and external communication and marketing efforts; managing relations with alumni, advisory Board members, and other friends of the School; fundraising and donor stewardship; building and managing relationships with partners across campus and external to the University; and assisting with some administrative operations of the School, including our diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice initiative.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Oversee, plan and execute on and off-campus events associated with the School including World Leaders Forum, visits by other distinguished guests, Deans Welcome, hooding ceremony, conferences, retreats, meetings, and celebrations.
• Develop, oversee and the School’s external and internal communication strategy, including advertising, image building, and branding in consultation with the Dean, along with supervising the School’s weekly ENEWS and social media and news writing team.
• Support the School’s graduate and undergraduate recruitment effort by assisting with the development of communication plans, marketing materials, and promoting and advertising our academic programs.
• Support the Dean in fundraising activities. Develop and maintain relations with key donors, through arranging meetings, assisting in solicitations, and developing correspondence.
• Track philanthropic revenue for the School and ensure it is used effectively to support School programs and initiatives. Advise on the development of new revenue streams with internal and external partners.
• Coordinate and oversee the School’s relationship with the Board of Advisors. Organize the annual meeting, engage the Board in the work of the School, and inform them of the School’s progress.
• Serve as School’s liaison with various external and on-campus communities such as the Diplomacy Alumni Association, University Advancement, and University Relations.
• Work with the dean on strategic partnerships that enhance the growth and development of the School.
• Support the dean in administering the School by helping manage personnel, equipment, and facilities.
• Coordinate the School’s diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice initiative and support the School’s student organizations.
• Take on additional duties as assigned by the dean to support the efficient and effective functioning of the School.
Required Qualifications:
Master's Degree
At least 8 years of professional experience
