Description:

We are seeking to appoint Research Fellow or Senior Research Fellow or Associate Professor with a particular interest in Mental Health Services research to be part of NIHR South West Peninsula ARC (PenARC). NIHR Applied Research Collaborations (ARCs) support applied health and care research that responds to, and meets, the needs of local populations and local health and care systems. This new role links in particular to the new DHSC Mental Health Research Infrastructure initiative and will be in junction with an experienced researcher based in Exeter as well as other research leaders and practitioners. This project will involve working with local health systems in an innovative way to develop mental health research capacity in areas of high need. The work is likely to involve: Being embedded in local services A focus on children’s and young peoples, as well as adult, mental health Developing research bids through joint work with services The ARCs aim to improve outcomes for patients and the public; improve the quality, delivery and efficiency of health and care services; and increase the sustainability of the health and care system both locally and nationally. This is a fixed term post available immediately until 30th September 2024. Part-time working and other flexible working options, including job share, will be considered across all grades. Applicants will have skills in qualitative and quantitative research methodology, with a proven track record in mixed methods research related to health services. A PhD or equivalent in a related subject is required, alongside a knowledge of health and social care systems in the UK. Applicants must have a developing track record of published research at the appropriate level, and experience of Patient and Public Involvement and Engagement. If you are applying at Associate Professor level you will need to have Principal Investigator experience in terms of both attracting funding through bids and reputation as well as leading and developing a team.
