The School of Information Technology confers an ABET accredited Bachelor of Science in Information Technology (BSIT), a Master of Science in Information Technology (MSIT), and a Doctor of Philosophy in Information Technology (PhD IT). Courses in the School cover specialization tracks of Cybersecurity, Software Application Development, Networking/Systems, Game Development & Simulation, and Data Technologies. Furthermore, the SoIT confers a minor in Information Technology and several undergraduate and post graduate certificates. The SoIT has been growing at 19% annually and currently serve more than 1000 students with 18 full-time faculty members, 12 full time staff, 30 part-time faculty.
The SoIT is a diverse, interdisciplinary, team-oriented, dynamic and entrepreneurial environment. The Information Technology Solutions Center (ITSC) within the School of Information Technology was founded in March 2012 and has since been contracted on more than 70 projects related to Information Technology and Software Development life cycle. Our clients include state agencies, non-profit organization, startup companies and public corporations. In 2014, ITSC partnered with the UC Corrections Institute (UCCI) and the School of Criminal Justice. Through this partnership the ITSC has worked on over 35 projects with state agencies across the US. The ITSC has worked with corporations in the Financial sector, Manufacturing, and retail sectors just to name a few.
The Information Technology Solutions Center within the School of Information Technology at the University of Cincinnati seeks to hire a Research Associate to start as soon as possible.
The Research Associate will have Dev Ops responsibilities with the Information Technology Solutions Center, and is expected to be self-driven, open to learning new technologies, collaborate closely with development and operations teams.
Minimum Qualifications:
*Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computing or related field from an ABET accredited program with a minimum GPA of 3.6. Please indicate GPA on your resume or by also attaching your unofficial transcripts to your application.
Preferred Qualifications:
*Two years of experience managing Dev Ops. Co-op experience can be counted to meet this experience.
Position Description:
The Dev Ops Lead responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
*General
*Respond to outages and coordinate service restoration *Conduct system troubleshooting and problem solving across platform and application domains *Collaborate on evaluating technology options and vendor products
*Release Management
*Plan and execute releases. *Develop and maintain zero-downtime release and maintenance strategies *Tooling for automated build, delivery and release of software.
*System Performance and monitoring
*Develop Reporting/Logging/Alerting system as the requirements evolve over time. *Monitoring of APM metrics and performance analysis. *Log analysis *Configure and develop error tracking alert
*Server Management
*Procurement of infrastructure resources. *Manage and automate software deployments using tools such as Docker and Kubernetes. *Deploy systems to cloud solutions *Perform Server Backups. *Setup, manage and maintain high-availability production system
*Security
*Track, plan, and roll out security updates across the tech stack. *Perform compliance audits and checks against common frameworks such as NIST-CSF and NIST SP 800-53
*Configuration Management
*Maintenance and configurations of the different tools used in ITSC technology stack including but not limited to: git, docker, docker swarm, Kubernetes, postgres, RabbitMQ, Nginx, Redis, Node.js, npm, pm2, Selenium.
*Automation & CI/CD
*Integrate automated testing tools in the continuous integration pipeline. *Monitor and manage CI/CD reports to ensure releases meet requirements. *Automate of the releases *Provision CI/CD solutions such as Drone.io, or Jenkins. *Provision and configure CI/CD pipelines. *Write programs and scripts as needed.
*Database Configurations and Migrations
*Carry out database migration tasks as needed. *Configure, monitor, secure and maintain production, staging, and development databases
In addition to the Dev Ops Lead responsibilities, the Research Associate will:
*Research and implement best practice in Dev Ops processes and technologies *Present and publish in related conferences and journals *Teach seminars and workshops on relevant tools and processes as needed *Teach Dev Ops courses as needed
