Description:

We are looking to appoint an appropriately qualified and experienced Nurse to join the well-established team of nursing lecturers in the beautiful Southwest of England. You will contribute to teaching excellence related to nursing care and contribute to the academic and clinical development of Adult Nursing at the University. This will include the development and delivery of foundation degree, undergraduate and postgraduate healthcare programmes. You will also be encouraged to contribute to research within the School and join an appropriate research group. We have a number of permanent vacancies and will consider requests for full time, part time or job shares. You will be based at one of the University of Plymouth sites, either Plymouth or Exeter. Based in the Faculty of Health, theSchool of Nursing and Midwiferyprogrammes in the fields of adult, child and mental health nursing and in midwifery have been designed with our students’ career and the future needs of the workforce in mind. The School works in partnership with local NHS trusts to drive forward clinical research and support students in their learning to become the best nurses and midwives they can be. State-of-the-art facilities and equipment help students maximise their potential and develop their core skills, preparing them to embark on exciting and rewarding careers.The School offers further support for student career and professional development in the areas of healthcare, surgical care practice, emergency care and general practice nursing. An interdisciplinary approach to research coverssustainability, the evolution of services, use of new genetic knowledge and technologies, the ageing population, use of internet and mobile technologies, changes in clinical education, contemporary nursing, and how knowledge is translated into practice and policy. The University of Plymouth has a strong interdisciplinary research ethos which is supported by our three strategic Research Institutes: the Marine Institute, the Sustainable Earth Institute, and the Plymouth Institute of Health and Care Research. As a member of our academic community, you’ll be expected to contribute to our recognised research strengths. Working holistically across the University, you will be challenged to innovate, collaborate and deliver impactful research contributions as part of a systems thinking approach to addressing today’s global challenges. You should possess appropriate professional qualifications, registration as a Nurse with the NMC is essential, relevant post registration experience as a nurse (at least 3 years), an honours degree in health or a related subject (essential), relevant postgraduate qualifications (MSc or working towards), teaching experience and a teaching qualification (or be willing to work to achieve this). We offer foundation degree, undergraduate, postgraduate and CPD programmes. Research in the School was rated highly in the REF2021 and continues to grow.
