Description
This position is responsible for managing Montana Western’s efforts to provide recruiting, onboarding, advising, and student success support for all online-only students It is a full time, 12-month, classified position reporting to the Director of Student Success. The position aids UMW Online-only students through one-on-one academic advising and career counseling. They work closely with the Director of Student Success, Academic Advising and TRiO Student Services offices, and Division Chairs. The position includes: strategic planning, budget tracking, publicizing services to the campus and outside resources, providing information regarding usage of program resources as well as data related to accreditation and graduation. They will be a member of a collaborative team dedicated to advising, supporting, counseling toward a career, and creatively maximizing student recruitment, retention, and success.
This employee provides direct administrative and academic support to Western’s Online-only students. They work in collaboration with faculty advisers, Division Chairs and the Director of Student Success to ensure effective student support with education plans, class registration and troubleshooting, as well as student advising for Western’s Online-only students. This position works 40 hr/wk, as well as occasional evenings and weekend days, when necessary.
Responsibilities
Maintain an Online Course Carousel registration/program curriculum model;
Conduct online campus-wide workshops related to student academic success;
Provide financial and usage data needed for grants and other funding sources;
Participate in summer and fall virtual registration (Bulldog Bound) and orientation programs for first year students;
Coordinate online-only recruiting;
Facilitate the onboarding process for online-only students;
Provide support and information to online-only students preparing for and throughout their educational programs;
Manage online-only advising, including initial creation of degree plans and subsequent coordination with faculty advisors;
Maintain excellent support through impeccable and ongoing communication with online-only students;
Identify and train university partners about online-only student support;
Track evaluation data for online-only students;
Communicate program requirements and curricular changes to online-only students;
Facilitate procedures and policies related to online-only UMW programs;
Guide compliance with accreditation standards, as well as MUS and UMW policies as they apply to online-only programs;
Coordinate support and remediation for students experiencing difficulties in online-only programs;
Work closely with university partners to create a seamless experience for online-only students;
As funding becomes available, oversee online student support budget;
As funding becomes available, serve as University Supervisor for student workers/peer mentors;
Support students in registering and preparing for online-only programs;
Assist in the development of UMW procedures and policies surrounding online-only programs;
Represent UMW with NC-SARA requirements.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Education or related degree;
Excellent skills and experiences working in an online classroom environment;
Experience with student advising;
Able to pass a background check;
Experience with program management;
Demonstrated ability to work effectively with people;
Excellent interpersonal communication skills;
Excellent oral and written skills;
Excellent organizational skills;
Proficiency in using computers; spreadsheets, databases, and word processing software;
Ability to work independently;
Ability to manage multiple priorities and tasks.
Preferred
Master’s degree in a related field;
Experience working in higher education;
