The Finance department is a central part to the University of Plymouth’s operations and you will have the opportunity to play an important role in making sure the University runs smoothly and goes from strength-to-strength. This role is part of the Finance Research Accounting Team providing accurate financial management, guidance and support for externally funded research projects. You will be monitoring & reporting on budgets in line with with funding contracts and University policies and procedures, along with completing project milestones in a timely manner, along with ad-hoc queries. You will research, interpret and manipulate data using a variety of systems, analyse and highlight issues for further analysis ensuring adherence to appropriate regulations, including documentation and developing auditable records. You will interface with customers, partners and stakeholders and provide detailed advice and guidance, identifying issues and providing effective solutions in a timely manner. Self-motivated with good problem-solving and diagnostic skills, you should possess an analytical and inquiring approach to your role. Working within the Business Support team you will be responsible for assisting other team members as well as being responsible for the delivery of one off projects. You will require excellent verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to work under pressure to tight time scales. You must have excellent numeracy and literacy skills, educational attainment at Further Education level and an accounting qualification (e.g.AAT) or equivalent experience. You will have knowledge and experience of budgets, costing and finance systems and an ability to analyse financial and other data. You will have knowledge of financial management of projects, excellent communication and customer service skills with an ability to work independently as well as in a team, with good knowledge of Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft packages. There is an essential requirement within this role that you will be required to travel to and work at different University sites and/or other business locations that may not be easily accessible by public transport.
