The

Grizzly Athletics Department

invites applications for an

Assistant Volleyball Coach

to oversee planning all aspects of the volleyball team’s travel and to oversee all travel logistics during travel. The assistant coach will also provide on-court instruction and guidance to student-athletes. They will assist the recruiting coordinator in recruiting outstanding athletes to the UM program who can also be academically successful. This individual will assist the head coach in developing a balanced and challenging competition schedule and work with equipment room personnel in ordering equipment. The employee will also work with the head coach to direct all phases of the program, including organizing and supervising all practices and games, monitoring student-athlete academic progress, and participating in community fund-raising efforts and public relations. This position is the second assistant on staff. Athletic Department employees and those university employees outside the Athletic Department with NCAA rules compliance responsibilities are subject at all times to NCAA Bylaws 10.1 and 11.1 regarding ethical conduct and the responsibility to positively contribute to a campus culture of NCAA rules compliance. Failure to conduct oneself as such will result in disciplinary or corrective action up to and including immediate discharge.

Position Details:

This position is a full-time, letter of appointment position with 1.0 FTE and includes a comprehensive and competitive benefits package

including insurance, mandatory retirement plan, partial tuition waiver, and wellness program.

Starting salary for this position can range from $35,000 to $45,000 and is commensurate with qualifications.

Required Skills:

Collegiate coaching experience.

Knowledge of and experience with NCAA rules and regulations as mentioned above.

Demonstrated ability to coach and recruit the highly skilled student-athlete.

Possession of excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Organizational skills.

Ability to work with a wide variety of people and on a team of others.

Minimum Required Experience:

Bachelor’s Degree in a related field and coaching experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

Desire to be a career coach.

Collegiate or professional volleyball playing experience.

Coaching experience at the Division I level.

Experience recruiting in the Northwest.
