What We’re Looking For:

As a Regional Academic Manager, you are responsible for instructional team staffing and performance management in the Region. To succeed, you must closely partner with the rest of the Learning and Development Strategy team, Instructional Recruitment, Curriculum, Centralized Support, University Relations, Regional Field Operations Teams, and our University Partners. You apply adult learning theory to build instructional capacity across your team, positively impacting student success at the universities in your Region. You propel performance improvements of your instructional staff members by delivering effective assessments, building regionalized development plans, and overseeing performance progression against expectations. From the moment they receive their offer to join our teaching force, you will collaboratively ensure that your team members are ready to teach by the first day of class, feel supported throughout their teaching experience, and are fired up to put students first and never stop improving!

A successful candidate will value and enjoy the challenge of building relationships with hundreds of individuals around the world, and thinking critically about finding opportunities to support instructional staff within process and protocol. You can anticipate problems, excel at crafting inspiring and compelling written messages, and bring empathy and care for our instructional staff. This person will report to the Learning and Development Strategy Team leader and must operate with a collaborative spirit. To thrive in this role, you will rely on data-driven decisions to support revenue and cost-of-delivery goals. You will depend on Key Performance Indicators to strategically improve our Instructors' ability to achieve transformational learning outcomes at a macro level across all verticals.

What is the team I am joining?

The Regional Academic Manager is part of the Learning and Development Strategy Team within Instructional Delivery. Instruction is collectively responsible for recruitment, onboarding, and training of the instructional team members; ensuring they complete all necessary actions to be eligible to teach at our university partners and execute on our curriculum. This role will be evaluated by and not limited to Instructor NPS, Retention of Instructional Staff, Instructional Cost of Delivery by cohort, etc...

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

Execute the Academic Staffing for Cohorts/All Instructional Staff Roles in a Region

Superusers for the Workforce Management System for the assignment of instructional staff roles.

Ensure the organization is compliant with payment, hours, and teaching assignments using our Workforce Management System

Partner with University Relations, Regional Directors, Student Success Managers, Pathway Facilitators, Regional Recruitment in their efforts to support, develop an aligned strategy, and retain our instructional staff.

Collaborate with other centralized and regional staff to onboard, train, and support instructional staff through our Learning Management System.

Place instructional staff in the most impactful and cost effective ways within their assigned region.

Manage the Full-time Instructional Staff through electives and the Instructional Team members that are cross-trained for multiple roles.

Lead retention conversations within a region tied to the costs of instructional delivery.

Execute on a regionalized comprehensive strategy for staff management and learning and development

Build knowledge on and develop expertise in what it means to teach the Trilogy/2U way through strong collaboration with internal partners.

Partner with Student Success Managers to articulate a trajectory of onboarding and ongoing staff learning and development for a specific market.

Implement and support a rigorous learning and development system through team, sub-team, and individual learning structures, both asynchronous and synchronous.

Continuously evaluate the Instructional Staff role responsibilities and expectations to ensure they are aligned with student learning needs

Instructional Coaching Plan for instructional staff that qualify.

Drive Instructional Staff Satisfaction and Student Impact

Partner with the Learning and Development Strategy Instructional Design team to develop instructional staff capacity through one-on-one and group learning experiences that create a sense of community and build knowledge and skills.

Analyze and collect regional, program, and classroom level data to inform full team decisions.

Recommend and support the facilitation of skill development sessions to groups of instructional staff members and analyze instructional staff data for training sessions to inform decisions

Collaborate with Director of Training to plan and execute SSM group learning experiences to support on the ground classroom management

Partner closely with Field Operations, University Relations, and Curriculum to ensure strong coherence and relevance of Learning and Development Strategy initiatives

Support Instructional Staff Engagement and Strategic Partnerships

Build relationships with instructors in region to ensure we have accurate data in order to identify the ways in which we can best engage them (i.e. Focus groups, Survey analysis, etc...)

Responsible for clear touch points throughout the instructional staff member’s experience with close collaboration with in market Student Success Manager

Partners with UR to identify market needs, informing instructional assignments, and prioritization across the region.

Innovate and execute strategies (mentor programs, lead instructors, Dry Run support, etc…) to engage instructors in your region and connect them to opportunities in service of our organizational goals and vision for instructional engagement

Team and Organizational Expectations

Knowledge and compliance to all 2U/EdX policies

Participation in all meeting structures and staff expectations

Commit to planning and executing one of our centralized instructor support programs (for example, Hackathons, Local Meetups, Think Tanks, etc…)

In Colorado, the anticipated base salary for this role is $70,000, with potential bonus and equity eligibility. Note: The final compensation for this position may consider factors including the geographic location where the work is performed (candidate’s assigned office) and prior work experience of the candidate.
