University of Cincinnati – Assistant Professor – Educator – Mental Health Counseling Program Track

 

The School of Human Services at the University of Cincinnati invites applications for appointment to a 9-month educator track position at the level of Assistant Professor in Counseling with a specialization in Mental Health Counseling. 

 

A successful candidate seeking an educator position (non-tenure-track), is expected to teach face-to-face and online graduate courses; supervise field experiences; advise graduate students; collaborate with area schools/ agencies; and provide Program, School, College, and University service.

 

Based on the Carnegie Foundation Classification System, The University of Cincinnati (www.uc.edu) is a Doctoral Granting Research University with Very High Research Activity (R1). It is part of Ohio's higher education system with over 44,000 students in attendance (over 11,000 graduate students). The Counseling Program is located within the School of Human Services in the College of Education, Criminal Justice and Human Services. The School also includes undergraduate and graduate programs in School Psychology, Health Promotion and Education, and Sport Administration. The School is a leader in online and face-to-face course delivery and certificate offerings, with active collaborative activities across programs. The Counseling Program offers Ph.D. (Counselor Education), M.A. (Mental Health Counseling), M.Ed. (School Counseling), and B.S. (Substance Abuse Counseling) degrees. All of the graduate counseling degree programs are accredited by the Council for the Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP). Currently, eight full-time faculty members are assigned to the Counseling Program. 

 

The Counseling Program is committed to increasing the diversity of the University community. Candidates who can contribute to that goal are encouraged to apply and to identify their strengths or experiences in this area. 

 

Job Description: On a full-time basis, Faculty Members’ principal academic functions include teaching face-to-face and online graduate courses, supervising field experiences, advising graduate students, collaborating with area agencies, and providing Program, School, College, and University service.

 

Minimum Qualifications: (1) An earned doctorate in counselor education (or anticipated completion by August, 2020) with a specialization in clinical mental health counseling; (2) demonstrated potential to maintain a strong teaching record through the creation of student-centered learning environments; (3) a potential for teaching a variety of graduate courses in counseling, both on-campus and online; (4) a commitment to evidence-based counseling and supervision practices; (5) a commitment to interdisciplinary collaborations; and (6) experience as a mental health counselor. 

 

Ideal Qualifications: Preference will be given to candidates who have professional experience implementing evidence-based practices, a counselor education degree from a CACREP accredited program, expert knowledge of culturally diverse populations, eligibility for Ohio Licensure as a professional clinical counselor, and the demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with university colleagues and community partners.
