General Description of Position:
Under the direction of the Vice President of Capital Planning and Facilities and in collaboration with campus leadership, the Assistant Vice President oversees projects, establishes statewide project tracking programs and tools, trains campus facility leadership, and develops and implements best practices for projects across the system. The position prepares weekly and monthly reports related to project statuses, sets project expectations, establishes metrics for successful project completion, leads external partners and project teams.
Major Responsibilities:
Develops and implements programs for project implementation and tracking.
Establishes process for maintaining all project cost, ensuring on budget and on time completion to capital projects.
Facilitates training and discussion around best practices, improvement opportunities and implements training where needed related to project management.
Leads the development, implementation and monitoring of project management tools, policies, and procedures.
In coordination with campus leadership, provides training related to project management leading to efficient management and timely closeout of projects.
Leads training and provides ongoing support related to project set up, procurement, administration, tracking, metrics, and closeout.
Provides leadership in working with external partners around project requirements, implementation, coordination to reduce downtime, maintaining property system integrity, maximizing efficiency and minimizing operating costs while protecting the properties assets with a focus on operational efficiencies.
Identifies opportunities to reduce cost per square foot for projects.
Represents Capital Planning & Facilities Department when working with campus leadership and external partners.
Conducts project site visits during planning, construction and closeout of capital projects.
Provides supervision to contractors on Capital projects.
Serves on planning team to assist in scope creation, procurement selection, contract negotiations, bid reviews and project teams for projects $2,000,0000 or more.
Identifies and implements opportunities to save cost on projects.
Provides project tracking and data for future project planning.
Establishes metrics aligned with industry for planning and benchmarking efforts.
Serves as a point of contact and liaison between contractors, architects, and engineering partners and college staff on capital projects.

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Project Management or Construction Management or a related field required.
A minimum of 7 years of related experience, including successful project management required.
A minimum of 5 years of supervisory experience of project leadership required.
A high level of functional/technical knowledge of building systems is required and must have experience working on in large projects.
Must be able to prepare and present detailed reports on project tracking.
Must be able to write professional business correspondence and training materials.
Must have the ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of leadership, clients, and internal and external customers.
Must possess excellent organizational, planning, evaluation, and interpersonal skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel) required.
Proficiency in reading and interpreting documents such as blueprints, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions required.
Must have the ability and willingness to travel within the state for work and occasional out-of-state travel for appropriate professional development.
