Description:
The University’s Research and Innovation Directorate (R&I) is looking for an experienced Research Funding Manager to join our Research & Commercialisation Office, to provide support to University academics and researchers in securing research funding. R&I plays a crucial role in supporting the University to secure funding for research across a diverse range of disciplines from the creative arts to medicine. We work closely with academics and support the creation of impactful relationships between them and external organisations. This role reflects the University’s increased focus on maximising research income and is fundamental to achieving our ambitious objective to drive a real step change in the scale of funding the University secures for its research, across all Faculties. This role has a particular focus on supporting our Engineering & Computing researchers, providing support for a range of research funding sources including UK Research and Innovation, European Framework Programmes, various charities and trusts and other national and international research funders. The role sits within a wider team that also targets non-traditional forms of funding and supports the commercialisation of Intellectual Property. We are looking for an experienced, creative and enthusiastic individual to join our team with a demonstrable track record of working on successful funding applications, particularly in a Higher Education context. Experience of the development of collaborative applications involving internal and external partners and stakeholders is desirable. You will ideally have a background in Higher Education or Research Councils, although wider experience will be considered, and a demonstrable ability to engage partners from a range of different sectors. Exceptional communication skills are also essential, in particular the ability to take complex ideas and information and present them in a way that is accessible and exciting for different audiences. Please demonstrate how you meet the essential criteria outlined in the knowledge, qualifications, training and experience elements of the job description in your supporting statement. For an informal discussion to find out more about the role then please contact Susan Eick - Email: susan.eick@plymouth.ac.uk Tel: 01752 586986. This is a full-time position working 37 hours per week on a permanent basis. Flexible working options including job share will be considered. Interviews are likely to take place on Monday 4 April 2022 and you will be notified if you have been shortlisted or not. We offer a competitive salary package and a generous pension and holiday scheme. We also offer a range of other benefits, including ongoing development opportunities. A successful external candidate for this position would be employed by the University of Plymouth Services Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of the University of Plymouth. Employees of the University of Plymouth Services Limited work alongside the University of Plymouth colleagues in delivery of Plymouth’s strategic vision, and will adopt the University of Plymouth’s HR policies and procedures in full unless otherwise stated. The University of Plymouth is a diverse, welcoming community where everyone makes a difference and is encouraged to bring their whole selves to work. To find out more about our inclusive community initiatives, such as Athena Swan and the Race Equality Charter, and our range of benefits/support mechanisms such as flexible working, staff networks and enhanced maternity, paternity and adoption leave, please visit our Equality, Diversity and Inclusion webpages. We particularly welcome applicants from under-represented groups at the University of Plymouth, such as BAME/BIPOC and LGBT . Job Description
