ABOUT THE SPORT ADMINISTRATION PROGRAM
The Sport Administration program began in 2008 and has experienced continued growth since its inception. The Bachelor of Science in Sport Administration has approximately 350 student majors. The Master of Science in Sport Administration is an online graduate program focusing on Interscholastic and Intercollegiate Athletic Administration. The graduate program has approximately 110 students. Future plans include adding a doctoral degree.
Based on the Carnegie Foundation Classification System, The University of Cincinnati (www.uc.edu) is a Doctoral Granting Research University with very high research activity (RU/VH). It is part of Ohio's higher education system with approximately 47,000 students in attendance. The Sport Administration Program is located within the School of Human Services in the College of Education, Criminal Justice and Human Services. The School also includes undergraduate and graduate programs in Health Promotion and Education (Community Health and Exercise), School Psychology, Counseling, and Substance Abuse Counseling. The School is a leader in online course and program development, and there are many active collaborative activities across programs and with community partners.
JOB OVERVIEW
The University of Cincinnati is currently accepting applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Sport Administration.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
*An earned Doctorate (or projected completion by August 15, 2022) in Sport Administration or related field; *A clear and active research agenda, including publications, presentations, and experience in grant writing or the potential for external funding; *The ability to teach a variety of undergraduate and graduate sport administration courses (both online and on campus), *Recruit and provide mentorship to graduate students.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
* Maintaining an active research agenda including publications, presentations, grant writing and/or pursuit of external funding consistent with the Program and University focus on research excellence; *Teaching a diverse set of undergraduate and graduate courses including online courses; *Assisting with program growth and development including curriculum and degree planning; *Engaging in university, professional, and community service.
Additionally, our program is looking to expand in several potential strategic directions:
*Furthering our program's involvement with interscholastic and intercollegiate athletic management, *Training/experience with advanced quantitative research methods/statistics for our doctoral program and research collaborations, *Research/teaching interests exploring emerging areas of the sport industry (e.g., NIL legislation, digital currencies and NFTs, eSports, gambling, sport development, etc…).
