The International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) has been an innovator in policing theory, policy, and practice since its inception in 1893. Over the past decade, IACP has accomplished groundbreaking work on researcher-practitioner partnerships to advance evidence-based policing practices. Now, IACP seeks to take what may be the most dramatic step in moving ‘science to the street’ – by partnering with the University of Cincinnati to create the IACP / UC Center for Police Research and Policy. Supported by funding from philanthropic organizations, along with federal, state and local grants, the Center will provide the field of law enforcement agencies with cutting edge research, translated into actionable recommendations to answer urgent policing issues, drive sound policy, and advance criminal justice practice by substantially narrowing the gap between academic research and police policy. The Center will continuously identify, prioritize and launch new research efforts of significance to law enforcement effectiveness.  Funds to support this position are currently available through Dec 31, 2021, and may continue as additional funding is secured.
