Description:
The Centre for Health Technology (CHT) is seeking to fill two new vacancies as Associate Professor in Digital Health. These posts will be based in the School of Nursing and Midwifery (SNAM) but will involve working with colleagues in engineering, computing, arts and humanities and, of course, all health and human sciences. Recognising that adoption of Digital Health Technologies (DHTs) in health and care rests on both technological excellence and the need to address a range of architectural, evidential, socio-economic and cultural challenges, CHT brings together a truly multi-disciplinary team. Some of our members specialise in the development of novel DHTs. Others bring expertise in implementation science, knowledge mobilisation and evaluation (inc. economic evaluation) to support digital transformation. CHT enjoys brilliant external partnerships – with our local health and care providers, businesses and the voluntary, community and social enterprise sector; with regional and national NHSE and businesses and with international companies and academics. We are seeking to build on our success in pure, translational and applied research. New appointees could work with our portfolio of existing projects, develop their own research programmes and also help to build our educational offer to ensure that the current and future workforce have the skills and confidence to make the most of digital transformation. In total, we are advertising four posts (see adverts for Professor and Lecturer). With four posts on offer, we encourage applicants from a range of backgrounds and different levels of seniority. Please apply for the one level that you think is appropriate. We welcome expertise across technical areas (e.g., wearables/thinkables, virtual reality, care robotics, AI, data science); clinical specialisms; social sciences and pedagogy. As we are expanding a team as opposed to seeking to make an individual appointment, we are deliberately making the essential and desirable criteria flexible. We would, however, encourage potential candidates to consider how they complement and augment our existing research strengths; how they might use this opportunity to develop and expand their own portfolios of research and/or teaching; and how they might work with us to continue to build our collaborations across academia, industry, health and care systems, nationally and internationally, to support our ambition to be one of the world-leading centres of research expertise in digital health. Ideally, we are looking to fill full-time, permanent positions working 37 hours per week. However, we are willing to be flexible to accommodate excellent candidates. For an informal discussion to find out more about these roles then please contact ray.jones@plymouth.ac.uk or sheena.asthana@plymouth.ac.uk. These roles will require a Standard Disclosure and Barring Service Check. Please demonstrate how you meet the essential criteria outlined in the knowledge, qualifications, training and experience elements of the job description in your supporting statement. Interviews are likely to take place on Thursday 13th April 2023 and you will be notified if you have been shortlisted or not. We offer a competitive salary package and a generous pension and holiday scheme. We also offer a range of other benefits, including ongoing development opportunities. A relocation package may be available to the successful candidate, conditions apply. The Faculty of Health holds a Silver Athena Swan Award and the University holds a Bronze Athena SWAN Award which recognises commitment to advancing women’s careers in STEMM academia. Staff appointed within the Faculty of Health may be able to join the NHS pension scheme subject to eligibility criteria. The University of Plymouth is a diverse, welcoming community where everyone makes a difference and is encouraged to bring their whole selves to work.
