The Assistant Dean of Students is responsible for the development and implementation of a multi-faceted alcohol and other drug (AOD) educational program. In addition, the Assistant Dean works closely with and facilitates other campus departments efforts in the delivery of related services.
The Assistant Dean is responsible for the development and implementation of education and outreach programs for students about sexual violence, sexual assault, and bystander intervention. In addition, the Assistant Dean will assist the AVP & Dean in ensuring compliance with federal mandates in this area.
The Assistant Dean also serves as the Deputy Title IX coordinator as well as lead co-investigator for cases of sexual violence involving an accused student.
The Assistant Dean also supports the Associate Dean's work with the Student Conduct Review Board, trainings for Board members, and adjudication of cases.
The Assistant Dean will assist the AVP & Dean of Students in major cross-departmental efforts.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Develop, implement, and assess a robust, multi-faceted AOD program that is educational and engaging for students Emphasis upon outreach, awareness, prevention, and risk reduction activities. Collaborate and coordinate with campus, community, and national partners to address high-risk behavior and prevention initiatives, including identifying opportunities for funding and for research.
2. Assist with major cross departmental project in conjunction with the Associate Vice President & Dean of Students. Represent the Office of the Dean of Students in University-wide Committees, projects and programs.
3. Develop, implement multi-media educational and outreach programs for students about sexual violence, sexual assault and bystander intervention. Multi-media shall include but not be limited to live presentations (both large scale and small scale programs/workshops), online tutorials, poster/flyer campaigns, social media campaigns, etc.
4. Develop, implement multi-media educational and outreach program for students about mental health, wellness, and suicide prevention as part of state-funded grant program.
5. Serve as Deputy Title IX coordinator and as lead co-investigaor for cases of sexual violence involving an accused student. Assist with training of other investigators. Assist with development of protocols and policies.
Required Qualifications:
Master's degree in Higher Education administration or similar. Must have 3 - 5 years relevant prior experience in college setting.
