JOB OVERVIEW
A postdoctoral position is available in the Ross lab in the Chemistry Department at the University of Cincinnati. The Ross lab focuses on developing innovative electrochemical and microfluidic platforms to probe signaling between the brain and immune system. The successful candidate will conduct independent research focused on studying neurochemical signaling in the immune system using fast-scan cyclic voltammetry. The research will center on understanding the dynamics and mechanism of neurochemical signaling pathways in the lymph node. Preference will be made to applicants which have experience working with animals, tissue culture, and electrochemistry. This is a one-year appointment that may be renewed for up to two additional one-year terms, contingent upon available funding and satisfactory performance.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
*Conduct research experiments in a particular field within the pre-determined research scope and methodology. *Gather and analyze data and develop new ideas that promote current research. *Prepare data summaries, reports, manuscripts and presentations of research results. *Participate/assist in manuscript writing for publication in scientific journals and/or presentation; may assist in grant writing. *Keep informed of developments in field to maintain and enhance professional expertise. *Lab maintenance, including equipment maintenance and ordering of supplies, as needed. *May teach techniques to others, train, and mentor junior research staff. *Engage in appropriate training and professional development opportunities. *Play an active role in seeking career and research advice, both from the faculty supervisor and from other faculty members as well.
REQUIRED EDUCATION
Completion of a PhD in Chemistry, Biomedical Engineering, Neuroscience, Immunology or related discipline is required by the appointment date.
