at the University of Montana in Missoula invites qualified individuals to apply for a tenure track position as an

Assistant Professor of Psychology and Behavioral Sciences

, with an emphasis in Chemical Addiction Studies, in the Department of Applied Arts and Sciences (AASc).

AASc is seeking an individual with a passion for teaching courses in social and behavioral sciences at the 100- and 200-level and the ability to serve as Discipline Lead for Psychology and the Chemical Addiction Studies program and while supporting other course offerings in Behavioral Sciences. An August 2023 start date is anticipated.

The successful candidate will have the ability to effectively teach psychology and addiction studies coursework, work collaboratively with students, faculty, staff and the external community, and contribute to the department, Missoula College, and University.

Required Qualifications:

Master's degree along with the appropriate credentials to teach behavioral sciences and addiction studies (e.g. counselor education, social work, or psychology)

Ability to identify and mentor adjunct faculty members

Demonstrated proficiency in instructional methodology and curriculum design

Demonstrated successful teaching in behavioral sciences, preferably in a two-year college setting

Ability to collaborate with local stakeholders, the board of Behavioral Health, and other State of Montana entities

Ability to collaborate with faculty members on other two- and four-year campuses, including University of Montana, Missoula

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in online education

Experience as a Licensed Addiction Counselor

Familiarity with UM academic programs, policies, and procedures
