Position Description:
The University of Cincinnati Evaluation Services Center (UCESC) is seeking a Research Associate to join our evaluation and applied research team. The Research Associate will assist in the development, coordination and execution of applied research as well as program and policy evaluations in education, human services, public health, and other related fields.
The Research Associate will participate in social, behavioral and health evaluation and research projects, including proposal development, project oversight, database management, primary and secondary data collection and analysis (qualitative and/or quantitative), and report writing. The Research Associate will lead and collaborate on proposals; provide research, program and policy evaluation expertise to university faculty and staff as well as local, regional, state, and federal organizations; and conduct all aspects of studies (e.g., idea generation, instrument development, research design, data analysis, report and publication writing, and presentations).The Research Associate will participate as a member of applied research and evaluation project teams, actively promote and contribute to the Center’s continuous improvement, and contribute to the initiation of business development, including proposal writing. Responsibilities will also include supporting graduate assistants and junior employees in growth and development for project work (as needed).
Preference will be given to individuals with demonstrated expertise in quantitative data analysis (e.g., higher level statistical modeling), data visualization, research methods including study design, and proposal development.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
The successful candidate must have the ability and working knowledge to successfully perform the essential functions of the position. UCESC works with a variety of partners at the University and across the region and state and is focused on growing our footprint within the University, region, and state as an expert in evaluation and applied research. As such, the responsibilities of a Research Associate will include conducting research to evaluate the effectiveness of educational, human services, and health-related programs including local, state-wide, regional, and national programs. Familiarity with implementation science, strong data management skills (e.g., data cleaning protocols, manuals, codebooks), and ability to communicate findings to a wide range of stakeholders are essential.
Specific responsibilities will include the following: participation in research and evaluation design; participation in data collection and cleaning; data analysis activities; creation of reports, manuscripts, presentations, and/or other deliverables; and formulation of recommendations for improving program effectiveness. The Research Associate will actively engage with research partners from a variety of academic disciplines, non-profit organizations and governmental entities to conduct local, state, and federal projects and studies.

Minimum Qualifications:
*Bachelor's degree in statistics, public administration, health sciences, data sciences, demography, economics, political science, psychology, public policy, sociology, history, or a related field at time of appointment.
Ideal Qualifications:
*Earned doctoral or masters degree in statistics, data sciences, demography, economics, political science, psychology, public policy, sociology, history, information system or a related field at time of appointment; experience and education must be in a related field *One (2) year supervisory of research methods, biostatistics, information science, or a related field *Two (4) years demonstrated experience in project management *Two (4) years demonstrated experience in conducting program evaluation, measurement, or assessment *Proposal writing *Demonstrated ability to analyze small to large datasets *Proficiency with either (1) geographic information (GIS) software or (2) interactive data visualization software.
