The Instructional Designer will work with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs)/faculty to: Design new courses with SMEs/facultyProvide training & development to faculty/staffTroubleshoot and fix issues reported by faculty/students/staff Maintain and follow the current ONL semester course maintenance process, including making edits and changes Support the transition to new educational technology tools and modalities of learning Provide one-on-one consultations with facultyReview courses for quality assurance and user experienceApply tested instructional design theories, practice, and methods\u200BSBS Instructional Designer Support Substitute for the SBS senior instructional designer in their absenceInnovative/Emerging Technology Support, Collaboration, Professional Growth Maintain currency in the field of learning design/theory, including best practices and emerging trends in teaching and learning pedagogy and technology\u00A0Contribution to the CTSE and the University Collaborate with CTSE team members on new and revised processes and programs; participate in CTSE team meetings and annual Symposium on Innovation in Teaching & Learning; engages in University events and activities, as appropriateRequirements/Qualifications:\u00A0Minimum of bachelor\u2019s degree in\u00A0instructional design, educational technology, or\u00A0related field; master\u2019s degree preferred. Strong work experience in the field could be accepted in lieu of a formal degree.Proven experience in instructional design.Strong attention to detail\u00A0and commitment to quality standards and service.High level of empathy, compassion, resilience, problem-solving, and patience.Capability to work with instructors and staff of diverse backgrounds teaching in varied programs.Familiarity with building course materials into learning management systems (preferably Canvas).Comfort with new technology and willingness to learn new ones.Excellent\u00A0knowledge of learning theories,\u00A0instructional design models, Universal Design Learning, and accessible and inclusive teaching models. Knowledge of other related fields are welcome as well, especially neuroscience and learning.Highly desired skills but not required: knowledge of HTML, CSS,\u00A0JavaScript, video/audio editing.The ability to work with multiple deadlines and multiple projects simultaneously.Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact with stakeholders at all levels including academic leaders and faculty and to write effective instructional copy.
