Description:

King University is accepting applications for a full-time faculty member. The first year of the appointment will focus on teaching and transitioning into the position of Director of Field Education in the Master of Social Work (MSW) program in the School of Health and Professional Sciences. The primary appointment will be in the fully online MSW program with the possibility of teaching in the BSW program. King University faculty members work collaboratively to provide high quality academic experiences for students in a supportive, Christ-centered environment, with an alliance in student advising with the academic team to ensure that students have the assistance, tools, and resources needed to be successful as they move toward their educational and professional goals. This is a full-time, twelve-month position to start no later than fall 2023. The preferred candidate will have a willingness to relocate to the local or regional area (i.e., Appalachian Highlands or within 75 mile radius of the Tri-Cities in Northeast Tennessee/Southwest Virginia). Some travel may be required.

Minimum Qualifications:

Applicants must hold a minimum of a MSW from a CSWE-accredited college/university and a minimum of 2-years of direct practice experience post–MSW degree. Experience with and practice in trauma-informed care is a plus. A commitment to advising and mentoring students and a dedication to continuing professional development are essential. Administrative experience is a plus. Preference will be granted to individuals holding an earned doctoral degree in Social Work. Applicants should be prepared to focus efforts on the development of field placements regionally, nationally, and internationally. Applicants must demonstrate strong interpersonal skills, effective oral and written communication skills, competence in the usage of technology and proficiency in utility of the APA style (latest edition).

Preferred Qualifications:

The PhD in Social Work is preferred. Experience in teaching and curriculum development at the higher education level and field education experience is preferred. Knowledge of the 2015 EPAS, and ability to teach across the curriculum. The preferred candidate will also possess excellent verbal, digital communication, and technological skills, including proficiency with learning management systems such as Canvas, facility with online communication platforms such as Zoom, Teams, Google apps, etc. Candidate must be well-organized.

Responsibilities:

Provide leadership, supervision, mentorship, and teaching of the Field Education component and other necessary courses of the MSW/BSW programs; Be able to collaborate in the writing of the self-study for accreditation through the CSWE; Be engaged in ongoing and new program development efforts Be familiar with the 2015 CSWE EPAS Teach in online format Effectively utilize technology as part of both the teaching and administrative functions of this position Design courses, as necessary; Serve on academic and program committees; Evaluate student learning and field requirements congruent with Social Work competencies; Demonstrate active scholarly interests in issues pertinent to social work; Have the ability to speak to individuals and groups regarding recruitment efforts and teaching; Engage with student social work organizations (e.g., Social Work Club and Chi Omega honor society); Engage in the Social Work Advisory Board; Assist with updates and maintenance of the Social Work social media pages, as necessary; Assist with updates and maintenance of the MSW/BSW Student Handbook / Field Education Manual, as necessary; Work closely with the MSW/BSW Program Coordinators, Field Education Directors, and Social Work faculty on matters pertaining to field education, accreditation, and general program maintenance; Report directly to the MSW Program Coordinator.
