Development/Advancement

Description:

Reporting to the Assistant Vice President for Advancement the Director of Alumni and Community Engagement is responsible for the development and implementation of programs that engage alumni, friends, and community partners with the University, building meaningful relationships in pursuit of the University mission. Responsibilities: • Under advisement from the Vice President for Advancement (VPA) and the Assistant Vice President for Advancement (AVP), the Director will lead in the development, implementation and execution of a strategic plan for alumni relations and community engagement.

• Develop and strengthen relationships with alumni, students, parents, friends and community partners.

• Grow participation, volunteerism, and giving from these constituencies.

• Plan and execute special events for alumni and community engagement, both in Bristol and around the country.

• Coordinate with the Director of Major Gifts and Annual Fund to identify giving opportunities during Homecoming.

• Develop metrics for quantifying engagement with constituent groups with an aim at increasing year over year.

• Coordinate with Marketing to develop, write, and send the bi-weekly alumni e-newsletter.

• Coordinate with Marketing to increase alumni relations’ social media presence.

• Lead the Alumni Advisory Council, facilitating their roles as ambassadors for the University.

• Meet annual objectives as developed and approved by the AVP.

• In concert with Advancement Services, facilitate the management of alumni records.

• Assist Advancement staff with the Scholarship Thanking Program, connecting students to scholarship donors.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience in higher education, non-profit management, alumni or community relations, fundraising, business management or in another closely related field.

• Education: A bachelor’s degree is required but a master’s degree is preferred.

• Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills in addition with demonstrated expertise in the writing and editing of motivational material, and the development of marketing tools.

• Computer Skills: Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office, and command of social media outlets

• Schedule Flexibility: Be able to work occasional evenings and weekends.

• Physical Exertion Requirements: Light Work as defined by the Bureau of Labor Statistics

• Driving History: Must qualify to drive a university-owned vehicle. Must travel independently on a frequent basis.

• Christian Commitment: The candidate must have and be able to articulate a personal faith in the Lordship of Jesus Christ and support the mission of King University.
