Description:
This is an exciting chance to be part of a progressive and cutting-edge University, where you can really make a difference. First choice for health, the University of Plymouth’s Faculty of Health helps address today’s most challenging healthcare and psychological issues, through research-informed teaching and active, real-world learning. An exciting opportunity is available for a driven and resilient individual to join the professional services department of the Peninsula Medical School – one of England’s top four medical schools – and proactively facilitate the development of outstanding doctors & healthcare professionals of the future. You will contribute to the delivery of a customer focused, cost effective and efficient administrative support service of the MSc Physician Associate Studies (PA) programme, as a part an expanding and enthusiastic team based across Plymouth, Torbay and Taunton. Each team member seeks to enhance the student and stakeholder experience throughout their time with University of Plymouth. Programme administration duties will support the PA programme, with particular reference to curriculum delivery, assessment and front-line student service. This will include maintaining student records & assessment data; helping resolve placement and assessment issues; attending, organising and minuting meetings; providing programme data as required; and effectively communicating with students, academics, clinicians and colleagues. The role will provide support to the Programme Administrator in addition to providing support across the team. You will have experience operating effectively as a member of an administrative team within a customer service environment. A flexible and resilient attitude in an ever changing environment will be vital, alongside organisation skills, IT skills (including spreadsheets and databases), the ability to proactively identify and seek resolutions to problems, and ability to work within tight deadlines. Good communication skills, team-work and data reporting are essential. Experience working in a medical or education function/environment (or equivalent) would be desirable. The role will be based at the student-facing Faculty Office in the John Bull building of the University’s North Campus, although occasionally travel to other sites (primarily main campus) will be required. Please demonstrate how you meet the essential criteria outlined in the knowledge, qualifications, training and experience elements of the job description in your supporting statement. For an informal discussion to find out more about the role then please contact Mr Callum Gray by email callum.gray@plymouth.ac.uk or Tel: 01752 437328. Interviews are likely to take place in January 2022, you will be notified if you have been shortlisted or not. This is a full-time position working 37 hours per week, and is fixed-term to cover a period of maternity leave which is anticipated to be for approximately 12 months. Flexible working options including job share will be considered. We offer a competitive salary package and a generous pension and holiday scheme. We also offer a range of other benefits, including ongoing development opportunities. A successful external candidate for this position would be employed by the University of Plymouth Services Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of the University of Plymouth.
