General Description of Position:
Perform instructional responsibilities as required, manage all elements of academic program(s) including related enrollment management, quality of instruction, program administration, and human resource management ensuring coordination with academic and non-academic departments.
Major Responsibilities:
INSTRUCTION / PROGRAM MANAGEMENT / PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT / COLLEGEWIDE, CAMPUS, AND COMMUNITY SERVICE
Effectively deliver assigned classes in accordance with College loading policy and course objectives. (Also including clinical supervision or other program-specific responsibilities.)
Develop and maintain course outlines, syllabi, lesson plans, course reference/bibliography, assignments, tests, and other course materials.
Maintain student records, attendance, grades, and/or other documentation as required. Maintain a safe, quality classroom or lab, including equipment, supplies, inventory, and maintenance.
Implement quality instruction including the incorporation of technology, developing capable people initiatives and across the curriculum initiatives, all within the context of the Region’s Philosophy of Education.
Provide related student advising/referrals regarding course progress.
Provide academic advising as assigned for registration of students.
Support Program Chair in program management activities.
Meet all on and off campus assignments and responsibilities.
Participate in professional development or scholarly activities that may include in-service, courses, or seminars to advance instructional and technical skills as well as knowledge within the field of study.
Serve and participate in campus, regional, and College-wide professional and community activities, committee meetings, and task forces.
ENROLLMENT MANAGEMENT
Coordinate with Student Affairs and Marketing departments appropriate activities for student recruitment, to include identifying new student markets, coordinating and/or performing advising, registration, and graduation activities, as well as coordinating other promotional activities.
Develop secondary and post-secondary linkages.
Create course schedules conducive to student enrollment.
Participate in job placement and alumni activities.
PROGRAM/SCHOOL ADMINISTRATION
Coordinate related activities with other academic and non-academic departments (Business Office, Facilities, etc.).
Lead, assist, and coordinate advisory committee development and functions.
Review and develop curriculum and courses in adherence to statewide curriculum guidelines.
Oversee quality classroom, lab, equipment, supplies, inventory, and maintenance.
Develop sufficient long and short-range plans for successful program(s).
Develop and follow budgetary guidelines for program(s).
Meet all on and off campus assignments and responsibilities.
Ensure compliance with applicable College policies.
Ensure applicable program accreditations and responsible for program accreditation self studies and program accreditation process.
Coordinate HLC accreditation process/self study for Schools as applicable.
Implement and manage high school based and College based dual credit initiatives.
HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGEMENT
Recruit, evaluate, and develop full-time and adjunct faculty, as well as appropriate staff.
Review and respond to faculty, staff, and/or student issues.
Other responsibilities as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
A qualified faculty member in human services meets all three of the following criteria:
1. Possesses an earned master’s or higher degree, from a regionally accredited institution, and 2. Completed academic preparation appropriate to the program; and
3. Has one of the following:
Professional certification or licensure in the field; or
Two years of directly post master degree related work experience.
OR
A qualified faculty member in criminal justice meets both of the following criteria:
1. Possesses an earned baccalaureate or higher degree, from a regionally accredited
institution, in criminology, criminal justice, law enforcement, social work, sociology, or
human services, behavioral sciences, or other related fields (e.g. earned Juris Doctor
degree), and
2. Possesses one of the following:
Professional certification in the field, or
Two years of directly related work experience, or
Completed academic preparation appropriate to the program
