Description:
Based in the Faculty of Health, the Peninsula Medical School is committed to three core aims: outstanding clinical education; strong social engagement; and world-class research which all feature strongly in the student learning experience. A key strength is a close relationship with NHS partners, with early clinical contact for all students. The South West offers healthcare and learning opportunities of exceptional quality; Derriford is one of Europe’s largest hospitals and the only trauma centre in Devon and Cornwall. A further strength is our scholarly approach to education, supported by the Division of Education Scholarship. The Plymouth Institute of Health and Care Research is the core of research activity, providing a thriving community that conducts adventurous world-leading research with the explicit purpose of improving the health and care of the populations we serve. The Diagnostic Radiography programmes, part of the Peninsula Medical School, work in close partnership with South west region hospitals, and the wider UK, as well as with a variety of community-based and private clinical partners. Our core values are to provide: outstanding Health Care education; strong social engagement; and world-class research. This vibrant environment ensures that our students receive an excellent, contemporary learning experience, with early placement opportunities. Our programmes provide our students with all the skills, knowledge, and support they need to become outstanding future Diagnostic Radiographers with excellent feedback from our placement sites. Our first cohort graduated in the summer of 2022, with over 80% staying in the Southwest. You will provide academic support for the Diagnostic Radiography programmes delivered by the Peninsula Medical School (PMS) and our clinical partners. This includes a new apprenticeship to start in the summer of 2023. As inter-professional learning is key to the success of our students, you may be a HCPC registered radiographer, another Allied Health professional or come from a Nursing background. Alternatively, you may have a physics, anatomy or research background. You will have extensive post-graduate experience in your specialist area and will have studied at Level 7. We welcome applicants who may wish to continue with their clinical role whilst pursuing their academic role in a part-time capacity. There is an essential requirement within this role that you will be required to travel to and work at different University sites and/or other business locations that may not be easily accessible by public transport.
