Job Description:
Part-time position assigned during the Fall, Spring, and Summer Flex A terms to provide tutoring to students in the Writing Lab of the Tutoring and Learning Center (TLC). Typical work schedule: Monday-Thursday 9 am-12 pm and 1 pm-5 pm.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Provides tutorial and technical assistance for students in writing in the TLC Writing Lab via online (Zoom), email, and in-person/in-lab tutoring.
Interfaces and collaborates with the TLC Coordinator on a regular basis to ensure effective lab operations, promote the Writing Lab and enhance lab services and resources.
Works cooperatively with other staff such as faculty tutors, Math Lab Specialist, Work Study students, and librarians, and assists with other lab functions as needed.
Monitors operation and maintenance of TLC Writing Lab equipment and software including student use of the scheduling system and documentation of student tutoring sessions as well as online scheduling. Assists in providing inquiries and reports as requested. Notifies appropriate personnel of any malfunctions in TLC Writing Lab equipment.
Participates in training or professional development as needed.
Responsible for the organization and retention of materials in the TLC Writing Lab.
Maintains currency and proficiency with appropriate online writing skills/materials and assists students in their use.
Contributes to unit planning, assessment, and college institutional effectiveness efforts.
Acts in accordance with College policies and procedures.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
Educational:
Successful college coursework in English required; Associate degree preferred.
Experiential:
Must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications. Must have working knowledge of or familiarity with current MLA format; APA preferred. Consideration will be given for prior tutoring and/or teaching experience.
