Athletics department
invites applications for a
Computer Support Specialist II
to join their team on campus. This position includes, but not limited to:
Provide advanced desktop (PC & Mac), printer and mobile device support for 75 staff plus equipment in the Student-Athlete Academic Center
Provide support for a variety of standard business applications as well as programs specific to athletics (MS Office products, MS Server products, Adobe products, ARMS, video editing)
Provide hardware troubleshooting and updates for 75 staff plus the Student-Athlete Academic Center (computer upgrades and server maintenance)
Responsible for troubleshooting network connections for PCs, Macs, printers and mobile devices.
Responsible for setup of equipment, and support of live streaming for athletic contests as well as for special events such as press conferences, signing day events. Support includes “day of” details and troubleshooting which results in night and weekend hours.
Assist the department director of information technology as needed
Athletic Department employees and those University employees outside the Athletic Department with NCAA rules compliance responsibilities are subject at all times to NCAA Bylaws 10.1 and 11.1 regarding ethical conduct and the responsibility to positively contribute to a campus culture of NCAA rules compliance. Failure to conduct oneself as such will result in disciplinary or corrective action up to and including immediate discharge.
Required Skills
Experience supporting Windows, Mac OSX, and mobile devices in a business setting
Extensive knowledge, skill and ability to work with a wide variety of computer hardware and software
Excellent problem-solving and strong computer and network troubleshooting skills
Ability to distinguish among user-caused, system software caused, and hardware related problems
Ability to work with a wide variety of individuals, and varying skill levels
Strong written communication skills
Ability to communicate clearly and concisely
Ability to actively listen and to demonstrate patience with end-users
Ability to be prompt and responsive
Ability to organize time efficiently
Minimum Required Experience
Associate's degree in a related field, as well as at least two (2) years of directly related professional experience in a setting service at least 50 employees; or any combination of education and experience that would provide the competencies required to successfully discharge the duties assigned to this position.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a related field
Knowledge of video streaming technology and event setup
Extensive knowledge of Athletic specific software (ARMS, video editing)
