invites applications for a
Director of Student Success Center & Internship Director
to serve as the Director of the College of Business’ (COB) Gianchetta Student Success Center (GSSC) and its comprehensive effort to prepare students for academic and postgraduate success. The person in this position is responsible for COB programming focused on academic advising, internships, and career development; it assumes full, autonomous control of the direction of the GSSC in order to achieve the desired outcomes. This position requires extensive collaboration with COB administrators, faculty and staff, business and economic leadership throughout the community, alumni, supporters, other academic and professional colleagues on the University campus and high school counselors, teachers, and administrators. This position also manages the COB Internship Program and acts as a faculty advisor for all credit-bearing COB internships.
The person in this position will exhibit a deep dedication to promoting student success, be capable of excellent service to students from diverse backgrounds with a variety of academic and professional interests, flourish in a collaborative environment, and understand current employment trends and opportunities, as well as current advising and retention theories and practices. The position represents the COB in matters of student recruitment, retention, and employer relations.
Job duties and responsibilities for this position include:
Overseeing the operations of the GSSC, comprising career readiness, student workers and advisors, academic advisors, and the wellness-being support program.
Working closely with University and College administration on all matters related to advising and student success.
Carrying out the strategic plan for the GSSC to address student recruitment, engagement, retention, and career readiness and success.
Counseling students on internship requirements, preparation, considerations, selection, etc.
Faculty advisor for all COB interns (includes acting as support system during internship, grading assignments, and assigning a final grade).
Working with current and prospective internship providers to create and maintain internship pipelines.
Working closely with the COB Director of Marketing and Communications to schedule and prepare communication pieces for COB students regarding recruitment, employment, internships, workshops, and events.
Supervising the Director of Career Readiness and Employer Relations, the Undergraduate Advising Coordinator, and the Well-being Support Coordinator.
Strategic partner and support for the Director of Career Readiness and Employer Relations and the Undergraduate Advising Coordinator.
COB student recruitment (work with UM admissions office to coordinate recruiting efforts, plan and execute COB recruiting activities and meet with prospective students and families).
Representing the GSSC and student interests on the administrative team and college strategic planning committees.
Outcomes assessment (plan and execute recent graduate employment survey, compile results and summarize for school administrators and provide to accrediting body).
Managing programs targeted to incoming undergraduate students and mentorship.

Position Details
Position is full-time, 1.0 FTE, MUS Contract and includes a comprehensive and competitive benefits package
including Insurance package, mandatory retirement plan, partial tuition waiver, and wellness program.
Salary for this position is $56,000-$68,000 per year commensurate with qualifications.
Required Skills
Strong understanding of higher education and student success theories and practices.
Excellent interpersonal and crisis management skills, positive attitude, ability to work independently and as part of a team, to remain calm and professional in all situations, and to work independently, efficiently and accurately in stressful situations with frequent interruptions.
Excellent oral and written communication skills, including ability to write and present information and reports.
Working knowledge of budget policies and procedures.
Demonstrated management and supervisory skills.
Minimum Required Experience
Bachelor’s Degree and at least four (4) years related experience, including an advising and career development background, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Degree in business and education.
Master’s degree.
Knowledge of University of Montana and College of Business curriculum, policies and procedures.
Understanding of higher education recruitment and enrollment trends and best practices.
Strong knowledge of career development topics, including assessments, resumés and cover letters, job and internship search strategies, interviewing, and LinkedIn.
Familiarity or proficiency with academic career services software platforms.
