JOB OVERVIEW
As one of the oldest medical schools in the country, the UC College of Medicine has a reputation for training best-in-class health care professionals and developing cutting-edge procedures and research that improves the health and clinical care of patients.
A Research Fellow position is currently available for employment beginning in July, August, or September in the lab of Dr. Tom Cunningham at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine, in the Department of Cancer & Cell Biology, to study the molecular mechanisms that contribute to cancer development.
The employee will have an opportunity to perform cutting-edge biomedical research with the intention of publishing their results in pre-eminent peer-reviewed scientific journals. Previous employees serving in this role have utilized this job as a stepping-stone to pursue medical (MD) or graduate (PhD) degrees at prestigious biomedical institutions or lucrative positions in industry.
The employee will work very closely with and receive direct training from Dr. Cunningham and other members of the lab, which may include postdoctoral fellows, graduate students, clinical fellows, or undergraduate researchers.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
*Perform experiments that include, but are not limited to:
*Western blot analysis, RNA isolation, PCR, tissue culture, mouse genotyping, immunohistochemistry, molecular cloning, and mouse dissection followed by tissue processing and histological analysis.
*Laboratory organization, including ordering, and ensuring safety and regulatory compliance.
REQUIRED EDUCATION
B.A or B.S in relevant fields such as biology, chemistry, biochemistry, molecular biology, genetics, biophysics, etc.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
*Expertise in mice handling and proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Adobe (Photoshop, Illustrator). *Proficiency in Python, R, or other programming languages. *Previous independent laboratory experience outside of required undergraduate courses.

*Office environment/no specific unusual physical or environmental demands.
