Profile

Description:

This is an exciting chance to be part of a progressive and cutting-edge University in a beautiful location, where you can really make a difference. This role is funded through the Plymouth Materials Characterisation Network (PMCN) which is supported by an investment from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF). This new role has been created as part of an EU-funded research collaboration project supporting academia & industry within the South-West of England. We are seeking an experienced Project Administrator and Compliance Specialist to work on the PMCN project and support the Plymouth Electron Microscope Centre (PEMC) Director. You will be working within the Faculty of Science and Engineering based on main campus. PMCN is following the success of our previous EU-funded project, Plymouth Materials Characterisation Project (PMCP), which focused on working with SMEs across Devon enabling them to access a new PEMC electron microscope. PMCN aims to build a self-sustaining network of researchers, technicians, industry experts, and academics who are familiar with and benefit from the use of Electron Microscopy (EM) in their day-to-day business. The PMCN project commenced on 1st March 2021 and will end 30th June 2023. Working under the direction of the Project Manager and the PEMC Director, as part of the wider delivery team, you will contribute to the delivery of a customer focused, cost effective and efficient administrative support service for the project. Your duties will include ordering and processing payments to suppliers, data collection, maintenance of financial and client records on spreadsheets and other compliance systems, to record project expenditure and client engagement activity. In addition, you will provide general support to the project team, which will include servicing and supporting internal, external events and meetings for both internal and external attendees. You will be based on the main campus within the Faculty of Science and Engineering with some travel within Devon and occasionally further afield. You must be able to demonstrate excellent administrative, financial and organisational support experience. You will be highly organised, adaptable and be able to prioritise and manage multiple tasks within set deadlines and whilst providing excellent customer service. You will be required to attend occasional events and activities and therefore need to be able to work flexible hours at times. Please demonstrate how you meet the essential criteria outlined in the knowledge, qualifications and experience elements of the job description in your supporting statement. For an informal discussion to find out more about the role then please contact Jayne Stanyer by email j.stanyer@plymouth.ac.uk or Natasha Stephen by email natash.stephen@plymouth.ac.uk We offer a competitive salary package and a generous pension and holiday scheme.
