Description:

University of Plymouth has a vacancy for a highly experienced Counsellor to join the Student Wellbeing Services team. The post offers an opportunity to contribute to the further development of a university with an enviable record in teaching and supporting learning for all students. The university has highly regarded Student Wellbeing Services and an excellent reputation for supporting students with disabilities. You will provide counselling to students with complex mental health conditions, including suicidal thoughts and self-harm as well as a wide range of presenting issues including sexual assault. You will need to adapt and target your interventions to fit a busy service where brief therapy is the norm and be comfortable working both remotely and in person with clients. You will be a member of the Student Wellbeing Services Multi-Disciplinary Team which includes Mental Health Workers, Counsellors and Pastoral and Spiritual Support. You will have a degree, professional accreditation (or eligible, and actively working towards this) and be a highly experienced counsellor. You will be an excellent professional able to demonstrate flair, flexibility and self-confidence. You will have excellent interpersonal, verbal and written skills and a proven ability to work independently and as a member of a team. You will be competent using Microsoft Office and electronic information systems. You will have demonstrable experience of counselling, preferably in an education setting, and a record of success in project work, publication, research or relevant innovative initiatives. Some weekend working is required. This is a part-time position working 14.8 hours per week on a permanent basis.
