The University of Cincinnati Blue Ash College Electronic Media Communications department invites applications for our Adjunct-Instructor-Media Criticism and Journal pool of candidates, from which part time faculty will be selected for upcoming terms (as needed).
We are actively seeking Adjunct Faculty with experience and/or interest in teaching fully online courses. Courses to be staffed are in three major groupings. Group 1 – includes media studies courses: Media Criticism, Media Aesthetics & Criticism, Media Scriptwriting, and Media Assets & Law. Group 2 – includes media journalism courses that require instructors with at least bachelor’s level coursework in journalism/photojournalism and/or documented professional experience in the field: Survey of Media Journalism and Introduction to Photojournalism. Group 3 includes media history courses that serve as general education requirements in historical perspective and fine arts, and require instructors with graduate credits in art history, media/photo history or film history/studies: American Cinema, World Cinema, History of Photography and History of Animation.
Responsibilities
*Teaching a variety of freshman and sophomore level eMedia courses, depending on the candidate’s expertise. *Adjunct faculty members will be expected to use our course management system (Blackboard) and any textbook-specific systems. *Hold regular office hours. *Participate in at least one professional development workshop per year. *All courses in this program will be online offerings. *Teaching is assigned on an as-needed, semester-by-semester basis.
Minimum Qualifications
*A master’s degree in media technology, media or film studies, or a related field is required for Group 1 courses. *Media Assets and Law requires a JD degree with focus in intellectual property and/or media business. *Group 2 courses require at least bachelor’s level coursework in journalism and/or documented professional experience in the field. *Group 3 courses require the above with at least 18 graduate credits in art history, photo or media history, and/or film history/studies.
Additional Qualifications
*A minimum of five (5) years of experience in professional media design and production or photojournalism and writing with one to two years of successful college teaching experience (preferably with experience in teaching online).
