JOB OVERVIEW
The Social Sciences and Humanities Department at UC Clermont invites applicants for our Sociology Adjunct faculty general pool of candidates from which part-time faculty will be selected for the upcoming term, as needed. The number of positions varies depending on the needs of the department. Appointments are renewed per semester based on departmental needs and teaching performance. All applicants for this position must be proficient in English, have strong oral, written, interpersonal, and group communication skills, and be effective classroom facilitators who enjoy teaching in a culturally diverse, student-centered environment.
The Adjunct Faculty member's primary academic functions include teaching a diverse set of students in an open-access environment. Adjunct faculty must have experience and training to provide course instruction in at least Introduction to Sociology or Social Problems courses. Adjunct faculty members will be expected to: use our Canvas course management system, adhere to each course's cross-college course objectives and learning outcomes, hold regular office hours to meet with students, whether online or otherwise and participate in program assessment, as assigned. Classes may be held days or evenings and in face to face, hybrid, or online synchronous or asynchronous formats.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
*On a part-time basis, conduct and teach assigned undergraduate courses according to the policies and procedures of the College, the Department, and the course. *Review, and where necessary, respond in a timely manner to all University-related communication. *Other related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
*The minimum of a Master's degree in Sociology is required. *At least one year of teaching experience in a college setting. Experience teaching Introduction to Sociology and Social Problems is preferred.
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS CONSIDERED
Ph.D. or ABD in Sociology is preferred.
