Based in the Faculty of Health, the School of Psychology is one of the largest and best-resourced psychology departments in the UK. Covering all areas of psychology, the School shares its expertise and enthusiasm for psychology with over 800 students and offer undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, and a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology, all accredited by the British Psychological Society. Graduates go on to pursue a wide range of careers after studying their first degree. Whether continuing studying for a further degree or looking for employment straight away, our emphasis on employability will put our students ahead of other graduates. Plymouth is a centre of excellence in psychological research. In the last Research Excellence Framework assessment over 80% of our research outputs were rated as either of international (3*) or world-leading (4*) quality – in the top 20 nationally on this measure. The School holds an Athena SWAN Bronze award in recognition of a commitment to improving gender equality demonstrating the University’s ongoing commitment to advancing gender equality and success for all. The School of Psychology at University of Plymouth is seeking to appoint a Lecturer in Psychology, with specialist interest and experience in the application of theory and research to organisational behaviour, behaviour change, education or other applied field. Your enthusiasm for your subject will extend to providing excellent teaching, mentoring and leadership at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, informed by excellent scholarship and your own research experience. The School fosters collaborative research and supports the development of real-world impact. In the 2021 Research Excellence Framework assessment 100% of our research environment and research impact was rated as either world-leading (4*) or internationally excellent (3*), along with 73% of our research outputs. To support the research aims of our academics the School houses an excellent suite of research laboratories, supported by a dedicated team of Technicians and Teaching and Research Associates. Our facilities include numerous laboratories supporting behavioural, clinical, neuroscience, and developmental research with technologies such as VR, eyetracking, EEG, and TMS. These are augmented with a newly developed Health Psychology Lab, dedicated Babylab (http://www.psy.plymouth.ac.uk/babylab), and new state-of-the-art Brain Research and Imaging Centre (https://www.plymouth.ac.uk/research/psychology/brain-research-and-imaging-centre). All these resources will be available to support the development of your research career. This is a full-time position working 37 hours per week on a permanent basis, but we welcome applications from those seeking a part-time position, job-share arrangements or flexible working arrangements.
