JOB OVERVIEW
As one of the oldest medical schools in the country, the UC College of Medicine has a reputation for training best-in-class health care professionals and developing cutting-edge procedures and research that improves the health and clinical care of patients.
A position is available to support research conducted in the laboratory of Dr. Tom Thompson to study molecules in the Transforming Growth Factor b signaling pathway. The qualified candidate will join a research team and assist with the coordination of laboratory projects or research studies by making independent scientific contributions based on professional training or functional experience.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
*Assist with tissue culture experiments, including cell-line maintenance, development and production of conditioned media *Develop and perform experiments using cell-based culture systems *Assist in expression and purification of recombinant proteins *Perform related duties based on laboratory needs, including ordering supplies, organization of reagents and coordination of researchers that support laboratory functions. *Effectively analyze and communicate results. *Perform related duties based on departmental need. REQUIRED EDUCATION
*Bachelor's Degree. *Five (5) years of relevant work experience and/or other specialized training can be used in lieu of education requirement.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
Additional related work experience may be required depending on field or discipline.
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS CONSIDERED
Previous tissues culture experience is desired. Experience with recombinant protein production, including expression and purification is also desired. Ability to interact and oversee/mentor junior scientist.
