Description:
The School of Nursing and Midwifery at the University of Plymouth is looking for three experienced Registered Nurses wishing to develop their career in an education setting - with proven ability in teaching, mentoring and coaching learners in clinical practice or in the clinical simulation setting. You would be working with our team of academic staff and a variety of practice staff throughout the academic year in providing a high-quality student experience in a clinical simulation activity to support their clinical development. Applicants should possess appropriate professional qualifications, registration on Sub Part 1 of the NMC register and ideally have experience of teaching. These are permanent positions, and you will have 222 annualised hours to deliver clinical simulation sessions as required. This equates to approximately 30 teaching days, across the year, with the opportunity to work additional hours through the Staff Bank. These positions would easily fit around another part-time job. One of these positions will be based in the Exeter School of Nursing, WESC Foundation, Topsham Road, Exeter. One will be based on the Plymouth Campus, Drakes Circus, Plymouth and the other will be based in the Knowledge Spa, Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust, Truro. Based in the Faculty of Health, the School of Nursing and Midwifery programmes in the fields of adult, child and mental health nursing and in midwifery have been designed with our students’ career and the future needs of the workforce in mind. The School works in partnership with local NHS trusts to drive forward clinical research and support students in their learning to become the best nurses and midwives they can be. State-of-the-art facilities and equipment help students maximise their potential and develop their core skills, preparing them to embark on exciting and rewarding careers. The School offers further support for student career and professional development in the areas of healthcare, surgical care practice, emergency care and general practice nursing. An interdisciplinary approach to research covers sustainability, the evolution of services, use of new genetic knowledge and technologies, the ageing population, use of internet and mobile technologies, changes in clinical education, contemporary nursing, and how knowledge is translated into practice and policy. The Pre-registration curriculum designed to meet the Standards of Proficiency for Registered Nurses brings both opportunities and challenges for the Nursing profession, and additional programmes, inclusive of Foundation Degree and post-registration level, provide wider opportunities to support the development of clinical skills. It is critical for the School to provide high quality education in supporting placement learning through developing the appropriate skills set in our students to become excellent future nurses. These roles will require an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service Check plus an Adults’ Barred List check. If you would like to discuss these opportunities informally, please do not hesitate to contact Suzi Robinson, Clinical Skills and Practice Simulation Lead, SNAM - suzanne.robinson@plymouth.ac.uk Please demonstrate how you meet the essential criteria outlined in the knowledge, qualifications, training and experience elements of the job description in your supporting statement. Interviews are likely to take place week commencing Monday 14th November 2022 and you will be notified if you have been shortlisted or not. We offer a competitive salary package and a generous pension and holiday scheme. We also offer a range of other benefits, including ongoing development opportunities. The University of Plymouth has a strong interdisciplinary research ethos which is supported by our three strategic Research Institutes; the Marine Institute, the Sustainable Earth Institute, and the Plymouth Institute of Health and Care Research. As a member of our academic community, you’ll be expected to contribute to our recognised research strengths.
