Profile

The College of Business at University of Montana is seeking to fill a tenure-track position in accounting at the assistant or associate professor level, with a fall 2022 start date. Applicants will be expected to teach at both undergraduate and master’s levels, maintain an active research agenda, and engage in professional and service activities.

Required Qualifications

Ph.D. in Accounting or Business (with accounting major/emphasis) from a school accredited by AACSB International prior to the starting date of employment. ABD will be considered if the degree will be completed within one year of hire.

Demonstrated potential to publish or recent peer-reviewed journal publications in fields of expertise and an active, ongoing research agenda.

Teaching quality demonstrated by recent teaching evaluations and/or awards.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience and desire to teach in two or more of the following areas: tax, financial, and AIS/analytics

Demonstrated commitment to serving the needs of diverse students (e.g., Native Americans, first generation college students, non-traditional aged students, military veterans)

CPA or relevant professional certification

Demonstrated ability to engage the accounting profession.

Position Details

Appointment to the rank of associate professor requires research publications and years of teaching service at an AACSB-accredited institution commensurate with the rank of associate professor. Salary is dependent on qualifications and is comparable with peer universities in the region. This position is a full-time, 1.0 FTE, Faculty position and includes a comprehensive and competitive benefits package including Insurance package, mandatory retirement plan, partial tuition waiver, and wellness program.

’s 38th Annual Professors Survey ranked University of Montana accounting programs 12th and 14th in the country for undergraduate and master’s programs, respectively, amongst schools with less than 16 full-time accounting faculty members.
