TAGLINE:
Accessibility Resources is seeking a student worker to assist the Assistive Technology Specialist in the remediation of digital campus content for student and faculty accommodation, and general campus accessibility requests.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
*Physical to digital document conversion (cutting, scanning, binding) *Website, document, and media accessibility evaluation *Content accessibility remediation *Multimedia captioning and transcription *Generating evaluation reports *Assisting faculty and staff seeking information and resources about content accessibility, via phone, email, or in person *Maintaining literature and resources *Clerical duties (filing, faxing, scanning, making copies) *Other administrative support duties as assigned
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
*Enrolled at a post-secondary institution or a secondary school *Enrolled at least part-time (one or more credit hours if at a post-secondary institution), with the exception of su mmer term, or will be a registered student during the next academic term *Must be at least 16 years of age *The period between two successive terms for which the student is enrolled *The one off term in each academic year in which the student is not enrolled *Student employee status may be retained for one additional term following either graduation or withdrawal from enrollment
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS CONSIDERED:
*Students should have a fundamental knowledge of document and media file types, knowledge of HTML, proficient use of Adobe and Microsoft Office software, and knowledge of multimedia editing and playback principles *Student will learn about web and digital accessibility principles, accessibility testing and remediation, and therefore should express an interest in digital accessibility *The ideal student would be reliable and punctual, demonstrate careful attention to detail, have good customer service skills, excellent communication skills, and have strong computer skills *Students with IT or computer science course work or experience is preferred but is not necessary. *Position will be on a one year contract basis
