Description:
King University Libraries seeks a creative and dynamic professional to join the library faculty as the Student Engagement Librarian. This is a full-time, 12-month academic appointment carrying full faculty status and responsibilities to start Fall 2023. The position reports to the University Librarian. King University, located in beautiful northeast Tennessee, is a Presbyterian-affiliated, coeducational, doctoral-level, comprehensive university offering majors, minors, and concentrations in fields such as business, nursing, social work, health sciences, education, and humanities.
Minimum Qualifications:
Master’s degree in library and information science (or equivalent) from an ALA-accredited program; knowledge of emerging trends in higher education and new developments in research, instruction, access services, student success initiatives, and the use of information technology in support of a library’s mission; commitment to information literacy principles and practices; experience or interest in working with both traditional and non-traditional students; exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working in an academic library setting; demonstrated success in developing initiatives and cross-campus partnerships to engage students and promote student success; familiarity with best practices in pedagogy, particularly in library instruction; experience creating online research guides, instructional videos, tutorials, and/or other digital learning objects and instructional support materials; experience in designing and delivering face-to-face library instruction.

Responsibilities:
The Student Engagement Librarian will be responsible for the design and implementation of outreach initiatives and will collaborate with library colleagues and stakeholders across the campus to provide meaningful, welcoming, and fun activities and services that foster student engagement and success. The Student Engagement Librarian will also be responsible for outreach to and the instruction of King University’s non-traditional and online student populations. This role will focus on introductory information literacy education by teaching course-integrated instruction sessions and/or designing asynchronous digital learning objects with an emphasis on general education and lower-level courses. In addition, the Student Engagement Librarian will, alongside the other librarians, provide one-on-one research consultations with students, participate in the collection development process by serving as the principal selector for assigned subject areas, and assist and advise in the regular assessment and evaluation of all aspects of the library’s operations.
