UC’s Department of Environmental Health has a rich history and tradition in Industrial Hygiene. The department consistently ranks among the best in the nation with a research oriented and interactive faculty. The appointee can anticipate a highly competitive start-up package and the opportunity to become a member of several state-of-the-art research centers, including a NIOSH-funded Education and Research Center (ERC), and NIEHS-funded: Center for Environmental Genetics; Gene-Environment Training Grant; and Pediatric Epidemiology Training Grant. The Division of Environmental and Occupational Hygiene provides training for both master’s and doctoral level students, and is fully accredited by ABET. Industrial Hygiene faculty members in the department have established research in exposure assessment and control, ergonomics, aerosol physics, bioaerosols, biological monitoring and toxicology. This faculty has worked collaboratively with faculty in the other five divisions: Epidemiology, Biostatistics and Bioinformatics; Environmental Genetics and Molecular Toxicology, Public Health and Occupational Medicine. Interactions with researchers at Cincinnati Children’s and VA Hospitals, as well as NIOSH and USEPA which both have major laboratory facilities nearby are common and encouraged.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Â Applicants must hold a doctoral degree in industrial hygiene or relevant science or engineering; a CIH or eligibility for CIH certification within one year is also required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: strong record of scholarship, funded research, excellence in teaching and advising, and service in the area of public health.Â
