Profile
The student worker reports directly to the lead teacher with oversith fromt the admiinstrative team and is responsible for assisting the lead teacher with the educational curriculum, environmental plan and care fora group of children. The student worker is expected to take the direction o fthe lead teacher and teacher and assist in all duties of running a classroom. Student workers can assume responsibility for and supervision of a group of children. The student worker could assume the responsibiility of the classroom in the absence of the lead teacher/teacher/full-time saff member
Qualifications
*High school diploma required *Enrolled at part-time (six (6) credit hours for undergraduate or five (5) hours for graduate students) with the exception of summer semester *University of Cincinnati students has priority for the student worker position (there can be exceptions). Sutdents of Early Childhood Education or College of Education program are preferred *Succesfuly complete and maintain background checks
Minimum Qualifications
*Must be age 16 or older. *Must be enrolled at least part-time (6 credit hours for undergraduate students and 5 credit hours for graduate students), with the exception of summer quarter, or will be a registered student during the next academic quarter/semester for summer work *Student workers must meet the enrollment requirement for the entire quarter. *Recipient of work study award based on financial need and must be admitted into a degree program.
Responsibiliites (Children)
*Assist teaching staff in maintaining a clean and neat classroom throughout the day *Actively engage with the child in all arears of the classroom and outdoor play areas *Consistently monitor the children to maintain visual and auditory supervision at all times *Use principles and practices of the teaching staff to guide children's behavior *Help prepare and set up for meals and snacks *Assist children at meal and snack times with clean up transition to play, tooth brushing, naptime or other scheudleed activities *Discuss all questions about children with the teaching staff or Administrative team
Responsibilities (Families)
*Greet parents by first name with a positive and friendly smile leaving comments about the child's behavior and day to the teaching staff *Note how teaching staff model working as partners while valuing and respecting the diversity and dignity of each family's values and strengths
Physical Requirements
*Pass and maintain physical examination including a tuberclous skin test every two years *Ability to lift, carry and hold an infant, toddler and preschooler of average weight (40 to 50 pounds) *Ability to maintain visual and auditory supervision of children indoors and outdoors at all time to ensure safety of the children in the classroom, on the playground and on field trips. Ability to stoop, crawl, kneel ans sit on the floor in order to communicate with children at eye level.

Variable/flexiable hours Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
