The College of Medicine, Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology, is seeking a Business Administrator for the following:
Job Summary: Direct financial and administrative activities for complex division(s) of 15+ Faculty Members, 5+ Advanced Practice Providers and associated staff with a budget in excess of $15 million. Responsibilities include day-to-day administration of specialized activities related to business operations management, including income generation and expense management. Function as the senior-level financial and administrative officer of division(s) by providing recommendation and advice to management and other groups on process related topics in accordance with local, state, federal, and university regulations.
Job Duties:
Under the direction of the Executive Director of Business and Administration and Division Chiefs, the Business Administrator will manage the financial, administrative, and clinical operational activities of Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Divisions of Generalist and Community Women’s Health:
*FINANCE: Direct all business operations of the division(s), including but not limited to, accounting, payroll, purchasing, budgets, asset management, contract negotiations, audits, etc. *Support the success and enforcement of the corporate practice plan *OPERATIONS: Ensure the operation of the division(s) in an effective, efficient and legal manner *Analyze existing operations for efficiency and effectiveness. *Develop performance improvement initiatives resulting in operational improvements. *Participation and regular attendance on Department/College of Medicine/UC Physicians committees and task forces and continuing education activities *Direct the facilities management of the division(s), including development of new space, renovation of existing space and relocations to alternate space *Support the compliance activities of the division(s), including all regulatory compliance, clinical trials, billing, animal care, etc. *Support/direct the marketing and public relations efforts of the division(s) *Support the development efforts of the division(s) *Support the IT needs of the division(s) *Oversee patient account billing and reporting in an efficient manner to ensure collection of appropriate revenues *Facilitate all audits and information reporting to Department and UC Physicians in a timely manner *In cooperation with Department leadership, direct the clinical operations of the division(s) in an effective and efficient manner including the coordination of the professional liability insurance program *RESEARCH: Direct the administrative grant application and on-going grants management process *Direct the administrative clinical trial process in a manner compliant with all appropriate rules and regulations *EDUCATION: Support the educational activities of the division(s) *SUPERVISION/HR: Direct the human resource function of the division(s) (recruitment, payroll, faculty time studies, etc.) and supervise staff. *Direct the development of business plans for new and on-going business ventures *STRATEGIC PLANNING: Direct the long-term strategic planning process of the division(s) to ensure financial health of the division(s) *COMMUNICATION: Ensure Department/College of Medicine/UC Physicians senior management is well-informed on issues impacting the division(s)
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree with three (3) years of experience; -OR- an Associate degree with five (5) years of experience; -OR- Seven (7) years of experience. Degree must be in Business Administration or related field. Financial and administrative experience is required and must include three (3) years supervision. Incumbent must possess the business/financial experience to be fully proficient in performing most or all work assignments.
Preferred Qualifications: Master’s degree preferred. Degree in Healthcare Administration preferred. Preference will be given to those who hold a Master’s Degree in a business related field with at least 5 years management experience in a medical physician group, medical school, university, research organization or healthcare organization.
