Job/Department Summary:
The Curator of The Janet Turner Print Museum at **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***. is responsible for providing leadership and developing dynamic on-site exhibitions and programming as well as directing the growth of the collection. This position requires a visionary, innovative, collaborative and IDEAL-minded (inclusion, diversity, equity, access, leadership) leader who will work with the campus community, consult with the advisory board of directors and other community stakeholders, develop public and educational programming, and manage the collection. Additionally, incumbent will plan and organize the acquisition, storage, and exhibition of collections and related materials, including the selection of exhibition themes, designs, and installations of exhibit materials, plan and conduct special research projects in area of expertise, provide information to other curators and to the public, coordinate the exchange, or loan of collections, participate in the development of grants and the cultivation of donors, and supervise staff, student workers and interns. This position works under general direction of the Dean, College of Humanities and Fine Arts.
Since its establishment in 1981, The Turner has become an important university museum and archive devoted exclusively to printmaking. In 2016, the Turner moved into a new state-of-the-art building, designed for our museum-specific needs, which includes gallery, storage, and study space for a collection of over 4,000 prints.

Preferences:
Preference may be given to applicants with the following as they may be considered specialized skills:
Bilingual.
Experience in Diversity, Equity, Access and Inclusion (DEAI) initiatives.
Fundraising and/or grant writing experience.
Additional training in art studio, art history, or related field.
Teaching experience.
Scholarship in the field of printmaking.
Museum-focused digital learning training.
Ph.D. or other advanced degree in position-related field.
Required Education and Experience:
Requires a Master's degree in Art History, Curatorial Studies, Fine Arts/Printmaking, or an equivalent position-related field.
AND
Four years demonstrating a range of professional experience and responsibility working in a museum or print gallery. This experience should demonstrate competence and indicate potential for further growth.
Salary and Benefits Information:
Salary commensurate with background and experience of the individual selected. (Anticipated hiring salary not to exceed: $60,000 per year).

This position is a Higher Education Employer-Employee Relations Act (HEERA) designated managerial position and comes under the Management Personnel Plan (MPP) of the California State University. Individuals appointed to management positions serve at the pleasure of the President or designee. They are excluded from the collective bargaining process, are not subject to probationary service, and do not receive tenure or permanent status. This position is exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).
The duties of this position will include participation in a decision that may have a material/financial benefit to the incumbent. Therefore, this is a designated position under the California State University's Conflict of Interest Code and the incumbent will be required to file a Form 700: Statement of Economic Interest and is subject to the regulations of the Fair Political Practices Commission. (Group/Category: Procurement Card Holder, 2) Note this designation is applicable only if Procurement Card is issued.
Throughout employment in this position incumbent must maintain a valid California Driver's License as well as continued completion and compliance of the CSU Defensive Driver's Training course.
This position requires occasional irregular hours such as evenings and weekends and may involve occasional travel.
