Job Responsibilities:
• Responds to patient calls, anticipates patient needs, and assures patient safety and comfort through regular rounds, environmental maintenance and other appropriate safety measures. • Records vital signs and intake and output when requested into the patient record and/or computer. Reports any changes observed in the condition or behavior of patients and any unusual incidents/problems. • Performs nursing procedures which do not require the skill/knowledge or judgment of a licensed professional and which may be safely delegated in accordance with nursing policies and procedures. • Prepares and assists patients with meals. Feeds patients as directed. Distributes nourishments and drinking water. • Assures patient privacy while providing personal and routine care. • Establishes and maintains professional interpersonal relationships with patients, visitors, and other hospital personnel while assuring confidentiality of patient information. • Offers to assist co-workers and all team members to complete work assignments. • Participates in patient care conferences and contributes to planning patient care. Hours: 6:30 am - 7pm
','!*!QUALIFICATIONS:Required: Must be at least 16 years of age.Must have successfully completed the 75-hour state approved course for Nursing Assistant if hired into the Nursing Assistant position after April 30, 1998.Nurse Assistants must be on the Nurse Aide Registry of the State in which they work if hired into the Nursing Assistant position after April 30, 1998. BLS or BLS instructor certification is required upon hire. Acceptable credentialing bodies and certifications include the following: American Red Cross: CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer, and American Heart Association: Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers. Experience:Preferred: Six months experience in an acute care hospital or skilled care facility in the acute care area.
Additional Requirement for Student Nurse Tech ONLY:Current enrollment as a Junior or Senior in an accredited RN, Bachelor of Science Degree program or final year in a RN, Associate Degree program. Knowledge / Skills / AbilitiesAbility to organize and prioritize work. Job requires individual and group interaction. Job requires continuous verbal communication skills, frequent reading skills, written communication skills, and computer skills.LIFESPAN COMPETENCIES:The Care giver must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on his or her assigned unit.
