Job Summary:

The Assistant Director of Clinical Skills Operations manages and coordinates all logistics for the systems and learning activities in clinical skills, including training, managing, coordinating, and monitoring resources and activities involving simulated patients (SPs). The Assistant Director works with the Simulated Patient Educator to assure quality improvement in standardized patient activities and assessment, including reliable assessment, coaching, and remediation of SPs. The Assistant Director of Clinical Skills Operations also assists the Director of Clinical Skills in developing new curricular activities, including those that utilize human simulation including SPs.

Duties & Essential Job Functions:

1. Serves as the logistical and operational lead for the Clinical Skills Phase I II, and III courses.
2. Serves as division lead for staff in Clinical Skills.
3. Designs and implements quality assurance measures for clinical skills and simulation activities.
4. Assists Director of Clinical Skills in the curriculum development, design and implementation of new simulation-based educational initiatives utilizing SPs.
5. Collaborates with Director of Clinical Skills or other faculty/staff members on simulation-based research projects.
6. Supports SOM faculty in best practices for educational design and implementation of human simulation.
7. Manages use of CAE Learning Space software including data capture, analysis, management, quality assurance, and troubleshooting.
8. Collaborates with IT and facilities staff to assure functionality and maintenance of hardware and software in the clinical skills center.
9. Assists assessment of clinical skills related events, including standard-setting for OSCE's and other encounters.
10. Screens, Selects, and trains SPs with the assistance of the SP Educator.
11. Develops and monitors budget projections and stewardship of clinical skills resources.
12. Manages supplies, materials, or items needed for the clinical skills center and activities.
13. Engages in professional development, such as participation in the Association of Standardized Patient Educators (ASPE).
14. Collaborates with the simulation team as needed.
15. Attends SOM meetings related to clinical skills education and human simulation.
16. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Education & Experience
:

Bachelor's degree.
4 years' experience within a healthcare related work environment, graduate level education, or healthcare simulation center.

Preferred Education & Experience:

Experience with simulation in a medical school setting.

Required Licensure/Certification/Specialized Training:

Experience with CAE Learning Space Software or similar clinical skills software applications.

Preferred Licensure, Certification, and/or Specialized Training:

Evidence of training and/or experience in accreditation and certification of clinical skills centers

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Knowledge of SPs and simulation related to medical students.
Ability to work with physician faculty in processes related to Learning Space and SP encounters, assessment, evaluation, and quality improvement.
Ability to work within a diverse academic, cultural and ethnic University environment.
Skill in management, communication, and facilitation of complex activities involving multiple stakeholders.
Skill in networking and collaboration.
Ability to work independently as well as function as part of a team.
Ability to exercise excellent time management and organizational skills, creativity and ability to be flexible.
Ability to train and supervise staff, including on best practices.

Physical Requirements (With or Without Accommodations):
Visual acuity to read information from computer screens, forms and other printed materials and information.
Able to speak (enunciate) clearly in conversation and general communication.
Hearing ability for verbal communication/conversation/responses via telephone, telephone systems, and face-to-face interactions.
Manual dexterity for typing, writing, standing and reaching, flexibility, body movement for bending, crouching, walking, kneeling and prolonged sitting.
Lifting and moving objects and equipment up to 25 lbs.

Work Environment:
Work is indoors and sedentary and is subject to schedule changes and/or variable work hours.

This role is an on-campus, in-person position.
There are no harmful environmental conditions present for this job.
The noise level in this work environment is usually moderate.
Travel may be required to attend conferences as needed or requested.
