JOB OVERVIEW
As one of the oldest medical schools in the country, the UC College of Medicine has a reputation for training best-in-class health care professionals and developing cutting-edge procedures and research that improves the health and clinical care of patients.  A full time Research Scientist (Toxicology/Human Health Risk Assessment) position is available in the research group of Lynne Haber, PhD, in the Department of Environmental and Public Health Sciences at **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***. College of Medicine.

Our group conducts applied research (literature-based, not a wet lab) in human health risk assessment, with a focus on hazard characterization, dose-response modeling, and risk characterization. We work collaboratively with various partners, including government agencies, industry, non-profits, and laboratory and field researchers. Dr. Haber's career has focused on applied research in the area of human health risk assessment. Her work focuses on improving risk assessment methods, including characterizing interspecies differences, consideration of human variability, and analyses of data-poor chemicals. Her other interests include use of mode of action data in risk assessment, use of biomarkers in risk assessment, methods for conducting class-based assessments, and hazard evaluation and dose response for exposure to nanomaterials.

This is a full-time temporary one-year position, with full benefits, potentially renewable pending available funding. No relocation is provided.  Due to Covid-19 precautions working from a remote location for flexibility may be possible.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The successful candidate will play a primary role in developing and implementing a class-based approach to evaluation of the health effects of and exposure to organohalogen flame retardants. This includes preparing evidence maps that summarize the availability of data and conducting class-based assessments using read-across and other approaches. This work is at the forefront of how to address human health risks from data-poor chemicals in a high-throughput manner. Other tasks include the gathering and critical evaluation of scientific literature to determine effects and dose-response relationships of other chemicals and nanomaterials and conducting dose-response analyses (including benchmark dose). Other duties may involve preparation of data summaries, reports, presentations, and manuscripts for publication.
