Center for Integrated Research on the Environment (CIRE)
invites applications for a
Senior Project Coordinator
position. **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***. CIRE’s Senior Project Coordinator serves a crucial role in the organization and will be a key partner to the Director and Associate Director in ensuring continuity of day-to-day operations. The Senior Project Coordinator works with a high degree of independence, decision-making and initiative in coordinating complex tasks associated with the administration and operation of CIRE projects executed for Federal, Tribal and State partners. This role will exercise management and supervisory authority over project management and execution staff as determined by the Director.
Reporting to the Director, the Senior Project Coordinator will:
Manage day-to-day collaboration with Federal, Tribal, State, and private-sector partners
Manage internal University of Montana collaboration among faculty, colleges, schools, departments, and labs, and external collaboration with other institutions of higher learning and private companies
Serve as Principal Investigator (PI) for task-based research projects in his or her area of expertise
Develop task-based research proposals offered and executed by the Center
Coordinate, manage and supervise the personnel, equipment and logistics required for successful execution of CIRE projects
Review and edit internal and external pre-award and post-award agreement and contract documents and other associated documents and communications
Exercise independent analysis and judgment in prioritizing situations requiring attention and take steps to ensure strategic and operational priorities progress in a timely fashion
Demonstrate strong organizational and interpersonal skills in managing the flow of issues and projects and successfully address problems within the Center
Seek new task-based research opportunities with existing and new federal, state and Tribal partners and actively and positively promote the capabilities of **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***. and CIRE
Professionally represent CIRE and **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***. at conferences, conventions, and meeting
Manage other projects and related functions as assigned by the Director or Associate Director

Position Details
Position is part time, 0.25 FTE, Letter of Appointment.
Salary for this position is pro-rated based on FTE, $80,000 per year commensurate with qualifications
Required Qualifications
Master’s degree in Environmental Science, Ecology, Forestry, Wildlife Science, or closely related field, and five (5) years of experience successfully executing research or task-based research projects in a university or government organization
Experience with MS Office Suite, especially MS Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
Ability to coordinate and manage complex task-based research projects in the disciplines of wildlife science, plant ecology, forestry management and wildland fire management
Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and discretion in working with highly sensitive and proprietary information
Highly developed verbal, written, and interpersonal communications skills
Ability to perform complex tasks while prioritizing multiple projects
Sound judgement necessary to make critical administrative and procedural decisions
Leadership skills and the ability to oversee and manage complex, challenging tasks
Ability to cultivate and maintain strong internal and external working relationships
Ability to organize, prioritize, and schedule work projects for self and others
Ability to thoughtfully manage conflict
Ability to professionally represent CIRE and **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***. at conferences, conventions, and meetings
Ability to facilitate effective meetings and collaborative processes
Ability to effectively present project results and findings to cooperators and the public
Preferred Qualifications
Doctoral Degree
Experience managing off-site staff in field-research/monitoring environments
Experience managing research and task-based research projects for Department of Defense partners in a university setting
