An unbelievable opportunity - The new way to become a management accountant through our apprenticeship programme within the Finance department at the University of Plymouth. We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and proactive individual to join our team. This role not only provides invaluable on the job experience but also provides support while studying for a professional accountancy qualification. You will work closely with qualified accountants, have a direct mentor and support to pass your exams. CIMA is the world’s largest professional body of management accountants offering the most relevant accounting qualification for a career in business. The qualification combines accounting, finance and management with the business skills needed to add real value to any organisation. As a member of a multi-discipline team, you will be responsible for the delivery and development of comprehensive, customer focused, integrated, cost effective and progressive finance business support service, supporting the Finance Department in the successful achievement of business objectives. Management Accounting is much more than crunching numbers. You will play a vital role in assisting with business opportunities using evidence to develop dynamic solutions. You will use information, not just financial, to inform the strategy and help manage the future of the business. You will get the opportunity to build relationships and work with stakeholders both within and outside the finance team giving you unique exposure across the University. As an Assistant Management Accountant, you will be working with and supporting our Management Accountants and Research Accounting Advisors supporting budgeting and forecasting, monthly management accounts and research accounting. You will gain a unique insight into the Higher Education environment, taking on real responsibilities and supporting decision making across the University. We believe this to be a fantastic basis for your career journey and are looking for someone who wants to study for a professional qualification, while learning and gaining exposure to working in a busy finance department. To meet this exciting challenge, you’ll need a minimum of GCSE Grade 4 or C (or equivalent) in English and Maths and a first-degree level or equivalent. You will need a hunger for learning and commitment to gain your Level 7 Accounting Professional Qualification and your CIMA qualification.
